Escorts.. Good, Bad or Both

Reply Sun 25 Jul, 2010 12:01 pm
so lets talk about 'Escorts', females and males... When do we draw the line between what is an escort, and what is a prostitute? Is it acceptable such as a single mother stripper dancing to feed her children?. open your eyes because this industry is booming. its the only thing some women can do is to go through and escort agency to find work because, as truth tells, sex sells..

Providing sexual services for money makes a person a prostitute. Other words are just fancy names.

Was this inspired by the new Kevin Kline movie?

I am never certain whether an escort is a euphemism for prostitute. I guess I'm just a home town girl in those regards.

What does it matter? Why should anything that two (or more) consenting adults choose to do together be anyone's business but their own?

That being said, I can't imagine why anyone would want an escort that didn't provide sexual services.

@khloistarr,
I think prostitution should be legal, and regulated, and taxed. We'd be better off just as a matter of health and safety. As it stands, prostitution is often a form of slavery. We could end that. We should end that.

As to stripping it's already an acceptable way for any woman, single mother or not, to earn a living to feed her children or to just make a living. It isn't against the law.

@ebrown p,
I have a memory of visiting a family in Tijuana, related to my friend. There were more of us women than accompaniers in the family. My 'date' was, perhaps, thirteen.

This kid (my view) saw me as his role at the night club. This was useful, as I was bad at - even back then - just sliding into a booth without falling, as the bunch of us ventured to some night club.

I do wonder what happened to him.

@ebrown p,
If I needed a man to accompany me to a couples only event, and, if I had to resort to hire someone, the idea of being poked by him might make me puke.

@plainoldme,
But those guys are called "walkers".

I knew a guy who was a walker.

Walkers aren't sexual relationships.

Good. I would hate to think of a "rent-a-dick."

As a libertarian, that has always been my vu;
boomer, a few months ago, did u say that there is a good aquarium in Portland?
I had commented on a fantastic one at the Mandalay Bay Hotel n Casino in Las Vegas?

@OmSigDAVID,
Portland doesn't have an aquarium at all. The only one in Oregon is in Newport and it's good but not great.

You know who has a great aquarium? Tulsa, Oklahoma, of all the landlocked places. Their aquarium is FABULOUS.

@plainoldme,
I don't think I have ever been to a couples only event. In fact, I don't understand why you would ever have a couples only event that didn't involve sexual activity.

As far as "being poked"... wouldn't this depend on the man?

Although I suspect that reaction to the idea of anonymous sex is one of the ways that women and men are genetically wired differently.

I had read somewhere that some women may use male escorts when they are alone in a large city on business and simply want a man to accompany them to a good restaurant or to the theater, or something of that nature. These escorts do not provide sexual services.

That might make some sense. A woman can feel awkward dining alone in a really good restaurant.

@OmSigDAVID,
I'm not sure they really make an unaccompanied woman feel comfortable in a lot of places, particularly very good restaurants for dinner. I'm not sure why.

And, if a woman wants to enjoy a good restaurant, and a night out, she doesn't want to drag a book along, just to have something to amuse her, or distract her, while she dines. Or have to just sit there staring into space. It is more pleasant to have a companion. Apparently these paid male escorts are good looking, good conversationalists, attentive, and provide very nice charming company for the evening. For a woman who is on business in an unfamiliar city it seems like a good idea. They are really paid dates. Some women hire them when they have to go to a special function and they don't want to show up alone.

Here's a Web site for one of these services

@khloistarr,
Isn't a female "escort" just a high priced prostitute who works for a service?

That's what Eliot Spitzer used, and why he wound up having to resign as governor of NY.

I suppose it might be an easy way for someone to earn more money than she might be able to do otherwise, but I find it hard to believe that it's the only thing some women can do. I'm sure there are other things they can do, but they pay a lot less.

Is it acceptable? Acceptable to whom?

If that's what the woman wants to do, I'm not going to judge her. I think prostitution should be legalized.

If I chance to be near a very good restaurant and get hungry,
I just go in and order. I give my attention to the food.
That is the full extent of feeling comfortable.

At Cafe Pierre, thay 've offered me several newspapers n a variety of magazines (the paper kind that u read),
while awaiting the arrival of the food.

Yes; it can be, depending on which one.

Paying someone to have sex with me sounds demeaning to me.
