I understand that apartments located above dry-cleaning shops have elevated levels of Tetrachloroethylene (also known as PCE or PERC) This chemical compound is used in dry cleaning.
Allegedly it causes liver cancer and leukemia in rats, and epidemiological studies have linked it to esophageal and cervical cancer and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
If you live in such an apartment, is there any way to protect oneself or have the apartment tested?
