Animals (real and imaginary) in Art Gallery

Animals have been depicted in art and commercial designs for as long as man has been creating art in the first place.

What examples tickle your fancy? Paintings? Drawings? Photographs? Sculpture? Etc...?

@msolga,

I always loved these lions (plus the birds, plus the bull (?), plus the ...? You've gotta look to find em! ) in this quite mysterious Henri Rousseau painting ...

Love this one, too. So gentle & peaceful. Smile :

A larger and framed version of this is hanging on the wall behind my computer. I love the feline in this:

@msolga,
Rousseau always brings me to a peaceful state of mind MsOlga. He removes the menace that might typically come with the depiction of predatory cats.

@Roberta,
Are these elephants a permanent fixture? Or a temporary site installation?
Either way, they are magnificent! I wish them well in their journey across the ocean.

And I love that piano/cat serigraph poster. What great yet simple silhouette design.

I've long loved Deborah Butterfield's sculptures. I saw them in person one time, back when they were made out of wood - I think she does them primarily in bronze now.
