@Bevo,
Yep I think that Obama is a Marxist. At least that is what I here when he speaks about Nationalized health care and redistribution of wealth. Going after the rich oil companies. Patriotic duty to pay more taxes?

All that smacks of socialism. Marxism is the path"road map".

If you think that the platform Obama is running on is apple pie and American I could only shake my head.

Very Happy The US will still be a capitilist country under Obama,you don't need to worry your paranoid little head off,i don't think wanting National health care for the people is makes you a socialist/marxist,yeh i think we should go after the oil companies,they should be wearing masks the robbing b@stards.

The way you are talking you would think Obama is trying to turn the US into the old Soviet Union ! its not gonna happen.

Taxes being taken in to provide equal benefits to all people whether it be public roads, parks, or schools.....sounds like socialism to me!

I think the lesson here is that socialism is unfairly villianized, particularly for it's association with communism, but it doesn't have to be that way. I think its fair to say that socialism works for some things and not others, but simply the stigma attached to the word is what turns people off about it. Many structures of our country are socialistic and have been apart of our nation long before communism and people don't even realize it.

@Bevo,
First I am not really a republican. I am just a old working stiff that was raised to be self reliant. I understand the benefit of public education and public works(roads, water etc.)

I also seen what happens when the worst management company in the world takes things over. Medicine is one bastion I feel I want still left in my court.

I will probably never use any nationalized system any way . It will turn out like all the other government programs out there. I will pay for it , but never get anything back out of it.

It just kinda makes me sick to see the general population become so confident in the government that they are willing to give them all the decision making authority in there lives.

It's not confidence in the government, my friend, it's fear; promoted by the fear mongers that are driven to control you and everything you do. If you are totally dependent, you will not fight against them for your rights.

@socalgolfguy,
I'm still undecided on healthcare, i know there is a problem but i don't know if nationalizing it will help, i'd have to do more research on the subject.

@socalgolfguy,
Well I picked up the phone the other day and called my Senator.

You know that now you can only leave a message? Used to be you would get a person on the other end.

I suppose now what might be the most productive is writing a letter. Telling them my complaint, and where copies of the letter will also be sent. Along with notification of where copies of the official response will be forwarded to.

I feel another audit coming on . LOL

@Bevo,
This applies to fatal's post #28 - Look no farther than Canada...or England. You'll see what a mess it is. I say clean up what's here as a great first step. I had to take my father in law to the ER following a heart attack and had to wait to get in the door due to all the illegal..err...undocumented people waiting to get treated for colds and minor illnesses. Our present form of socialized medicine only applies to those that will not pay, not to those that can.

Keep it up - email and fax are the easiest. Do it every day, if you can, or whenever you think of it and have a free moment. It is the only thing they respond to.

Last year I seen a guy complaining of hart attack symptoms get told to get in line at the ER. They told him to call an ambulance if he thought he needed immediate treatment. So the fella with him threatened to kick someones a--. So they called security, he then told security that he was going to kick there a--. Well I think that they believed him. They took his friend right back. I think that they realized the man was not jokeing. And he was big enough to get the job done.

Here we all sit, on an Internet forum, through our ideals at the world.

As an American I say that we are obligated to do that . I also say that we should remember to not take ourselves so seriously to think ourselves more than just another rock in the pond. Sure we have our effect on the world. To what extend? Well I suppose it matters were your rock hit the pond, and were ones twig was floating when that came to pass.

My thoughts to who,ever might receive them today is, just this, one might consider.

Corruption and evil stand at the gates today. Or is it , They perpetually stand at the gates? We must all stand vigilant watch to this at all times.i have found that the world has never been a safe place. It is my opinion that what evil most desires is to make me hate. Yet this is a daily struggle. There are days it has more success than others. So when I get up in the morning I must remember that this is a new day. Yesterdays loses and setback are of yesterday and have no bearing on today's struggles unless I allow them to.

When I find the end of the day, I must stop to remember that today's struggles I found, I met with the best intentions and whether I prevailed or lost to them it is time to lay them behind me and rest. For tomorrow won't remember them, lest i remind tomorrow about them .

I was worried that Obama was a naive socialist who would naively get us in great trouble, then I found out that he had received more money in 3 years from Freddie Mac, et al than most of the congressmen had gotten in the last 9 years. At that point I became very comforted in the realization that he is just one more crooked money grubbing politician.:frown:

The NHS here in the UK is far from perfect,but it is certainly better than The US where 50 million people have no health insurance !

Tell us why it is better.

I mean what exactly is better about the health care in the UK?

I have good insurance myself. And tomorrow morning on Monday I can pick up the phone at 8 am and buy 9 am be siting in front of my family doctor .

My brother has no insurance and makes little money. He can also get in to see a doctor. Paid for by who? Me and 150 million taxpayers. He has access, his baby has very good access. Along with his wife.

Juan Valdez , his wife and children that are not even here on legitimate terms have access. Those fifty million that have no insurance you speak of have access to the system. If they want it. So what specifically are you saying is better about the health care in the UK?

So are you saying that the 50 million without health insurance and the illegals have access to the system,what if you needs drugs to control a medical condition,what if you knee knee ligament surgery or cataracts removed,do they get this for nothing,if what you said is true why is health insurance such a big issue ?

Part of the big issue is there are many that choose not to get insurance , that are not eligible for government access.

In a free society you are free to make stupid decisions. And you might have to actually suffer the consequences for them . The subject matter on health care in America is very much one that needs addressing. But to nationalize it ? I am opposed to that . We can do better than that.

Now you answer my question. What is better about the health care in the UK?
