@randyjohnson,
No, he thought absolutely dead-on...though it's more like 40% that pay no federal income tax.

That's what I thought, too. Although, I do not recall from where I heard it. It may have been in one of the debates...

Poor people do not pay taxes.

When I was younger we always got back a big refund check and it was well over the amount of what we gave in taxes.

You got a refund check for MORE than what you paid?

Why aren't the expensive shoes knocking at your door?

Tax credits.With 2 kids making on or around 35,000 you pay a couple 1000 a year in taxes.At refund time you get Child Tax credits and other credits by the time its all said and done you get back 4000.

Its a racket that people know how to use it.

I wish we had Fair Tax.

Gotcha. Piece of the puzzle I didn't have before.

So basically it isn't that poor people don't pay taxes, it's that lazy people take advantage of the system. This goes for both sides of the fence... for both project and trailer.

@Sabz5150,
Playing the system is done by people of all classes, but i would say it's done more-so by the rich because they can hire lawyers to find loop-holes in the law which is what a lot of big businesses do.

I agree - but remember, it's the congress that makes the laws; not Obama or McCain, whichever of the two wins. That is where our problems begin.
