US Health care compared to Other Countries

It seem that the UK has about the same level of health statistics as the US except the bottom 1/4 of the wage earners in the UK are vastly more healthy than the bottom wage earners in the US. For a overview of the British system take a look at . National Health Service - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And I know we Americans hate to admit that France can do anything better than we do. But the World Health Organization rates the France Health Care system as number one in the world. By the way Americas health care system came in 37th in the world between Costa Rica's and Solvenias . Seems the french can see any doctor they want , as often as they want with no referrals required for specialists. The french can untilize any hospital they want and spend more time in the hospital when admitted than do Americans . The french average 6 physicians visits a year to patients in the US 2.8 per year.Yet still the French manage to spend 1/2 per capita what the US does largely due to reduced costs and preventative care. 86% of the French population purchases a supplemental policy to the national health care for a low monthly cost that pays all co pays required under the national system. Health Care professionals and researchers have said that the French have a excellent health care system . And one in which every citizen is covered , one that the civilized world would do well to emulate.

For a good article on the French Health Care System take a look at

Article | The American Prospect This article compares health care systems of several nations just scroll down the page to the french.

Come on now folks in this the greatest nation on earth , we can do better than to let people die for lack of health care.

@wvpeach,
:headbang:Great post wvpeach, I wish more people had their eyes open and could take the fact that another country can do something much better than we can. Our country (Greatest Nation in the World) has a medical system like that of a 3rd world country, piss poor man! Where is the greatness?
I knew Germany was second on the list of quality for the price of coverage, Britian is just cheaper. Many Dr's in Germany spend half of their work week in Britian working as Dr's because the pay is so good. They earn in 3 days what they earn in an entire month here. Dr's in Germany are not put above the rest of us and paid rediculous salaries for their abilities. The hypacratic oath(spell) is taken very seriously here, in America if you can't pay you could die for lack of proper care. No matter who you are or how much money you have you will get the same quality of care, thats is how it should be. No ones finacial status should get them better medical treatment, a human is a human either way, money doesn't change the method of treatment for the same illness rich or poor. Ok when they want to go and **** up their faces and look like Char, fine its their money. no problem.

@tvsej,
LOL

I agree elective plastic surgery like Chers and Michael Jacksons should be paid for out of pocket by the vain people having it.:headbang: LOL

Have you seen a close of of cher lately in the wrong light? Man It is scary . Poor woman values her looks so much she is willing to do anything to keep them and like Michael Jackson has let them go to far. But she sure has kept her figure in shape for a 60 something.

@wvpeach,
The whole point it is is a international embarrassment that the US is the only industrialized nation without a plan to provide health care to all its citizens.

I have been looking at what the presidential candidates are proposing and none of their plans are any good. They are trying to throw us out bones hoping we will all shut up and go away. And they are doing that to protect the big money of the insurance industries.

My son is a doctor , my daughter a pharmacist , I have several health care professionals among my extended family. They mostly all agree we need to cover all. Even while worrying that it will cost them in paychecks. But my family are not selfish , they would sacrifice some to help others.

Several countries have already done the research for us. They have been running national health care plans some from as far back as just after world war 2 . We don't need a NEW plan we need to take advantage of all this working research they have provided and pick and choose from the best of what has worked in other countries and discard what has not.

But most importantly we need to stop embarrassing ourselves with a President who gives humans rights speeches at the UN yet Americans are dying for lack of health care coverage right here at home.

While you take the time to respond to this thread people in the US are dying from preventable causes due to lack of health care . And somebody is mourning their deaths. So think of all those tears when you post.

@wvpeach,
No I agree with you but was asking if you have any ideas on how to handle this.
This is America the land of plenty etc., etc. I have been asking myself if we are the land of plenty does that mean plenty hurt because plenty don't have or should it be Plenty have and need to share. Or just how do we solve this situation. Then there is the next situation and the one after that. because the land of plenty is some how a joke if one dies because they don't have or can't be helped. Grandparents eating dog food (before the recalls) or doing with out meds. Latch key children because it takes both parents to earn a decent wage. The list goes on and on.
It bogs my mind down. And I haven't the answers.

@mlurp,
Well I think that other countries have had national health care for decades and we can use their research and hard won knowledge to graft the plan that works and discard what doesn't work.

Every country except the US that has any industrial base at all has national health care. I am sure we can find something that works among all those countries .

We do not need democratic candidates proposing their own , as I have looked at them and they are all just give aways to the insurance industry just like the Bush prescription plan was a give away to the pharmaceutical companies.

We need to do away with health insurance completely like other countries have done , not require every body buy it.

Maybe if we could get the health care crisis in line we might be able to fix some others things like old people starving and latch key kids.

The only (so far) reason it hasn't happened is $$$$$ for the middle men. And our great free market values. people want to change everything else why not the important things like we are talking about. No th epledge is so much more disturbing, so lets walk out or gay rights, or race issues. the or's just go on and on. The government has us doing the petty things and it slips in other issues behind our back. Whom is the fool?

@mlurp,
Well the government has certainly been good at trotting out the issues that divide people every election. Gay marraige and abortion will get the neo cons out in mass.

They worry about the unborn. But they do not care if the living , real live breathing humans die . I can't quite figure that one out.

But I have asked campbell a poster on this foumr to explain it to me. I will let you know if he does and if it makes any sense

@wvpeach,
Really great conversation you both have going, I agree 100%. In our present world, we kill abortion Dr.s but don't care for the children who live on the streets in hunger in our "Great Country" land of plenty (quote mlurp).
The very people who once made our country great and fought our wars now eat dog food and have no medication. It seems like our gov is trying to kill off the old people in our country by making life impossible to live under the circumstances.

There is another problem to healthcare for all, as long as Medical Prefessionals are concerned with their wallets and not the hypocratic oath, there will be no way to have a working healthcare plan for all in America.

The people (all of us working tax paying people) will of course not be willing to pay the rediculous amounts of money charged for life saving medical care and medications. The profit margin is sickening.

In Germany for instance Dr.s are not put above other people who are just as important as they are. A plumber for example, without him you have no running water and toilet, pretty important, or an auto mechanic, no car no go, house building, telephone, so many things we all can not now live without.

Here a Dr, earns a good living but no where near a 6 figure income.
Until we have more medical Dr.s concerned with the health of the people and not the bottom line it will continue this way. Isn't Capitalism Great?

@tvsej,
There is a fine line between keeping money to take care of ones own families needs and being greedy says the bible.

I am no fan of capitalism. I think it is a evil system actually.

CAPITALISM AND CHRISTIANITY This is a short article that gives scripture for why the pursuit of money has ruined America. I agree with every word of this article. Every Word.

The ministry and I do not agree on some things such as to who the identity of Israel is now. But I am always in prayer and studying the topic. If they are right about who Israel is and always has been we are all in a lot of trouble here in the US. It's my prayer they are not.

Was the richest country in the world. I believe this war may be the last nail in the coffin that closes down the American money machine.

It's depressing! What I am seeing coming at us in the US economy means we will probably never have a National Health Service.

@wvpeach,
Yeah, given the present circumstances that will be a problem set on the back burner as before.
We have fallen quit far now, the Euro is 1.42 against the $, it is also not such good news for Germany and other European countries who have a large export market with us. It is getting expensive for us to buy their products.

The $ is for the first time in over 30 years equal in value to the Canadian $.

Oh so right. I posted this on another thread. Now with your reply I can also post this here. Look at it and see if all haven't already been put in place. You have stated some of it in this thread and else where.
But it isn't the RED's doing it. It is our own government or the elite Machiavellians behind it.

It's funny that Europe's health care systems are so much better then our own but yet people come from Europe to America to have surgery

why, because free market medial care encourages the most advanced science

if we had government health care it would be the government who deiced if and when you get that kidney transplant you need to save your life. Do you want government bureaucracy making that decision for you?

I agree but they could do more as each year 10% in health care cost increases are hurting the average person.
And do look at the image I have posted and reply to it Silverchild79. It is above your last post. I read every ones post before replying I would like others to do the same. Notice I said "I would like" I am not demaning anything. heck I know respect isn't easy to get on this board.

@Silverchild79,
The moral stance is that all people get health care . There is just no way around that reality.
