Pot Pies own you. Chicken, beef, mmmmm.
Quote:During the 2008 Presidential campaign, Wright's beliefs and previous remarks became heavily scrutinized, due to his relationship with Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama. Critics have accused Wright of using Black liberation theology to promote black separatism.[21] Wright has replied to this criticism by saying that "The African-centered point of view does not assume superiority, nor does it assume separatism. It assumes Africans speaking for themselves as subjects in history, not objects in history." [22]
In another sermon eventually published by the press, Wright ended his message with a blessing on all people, saying "All of God's children white, black, red, yellow, male, female, all together".[23][24]
The problem here is that he, nor the majority of blacks in America are african, and therefore, not African-American. People that use this term, or any of the other hyphenated Americans, are the root cause for continued racism in America by giving themselves a distinction from other Americans. I've heard people talk about "preserving heritage" but can they explain how being born and raised in Chicago has anything whatsoever to do with African heritage? Usually not. There is no such thing as a African-American, Italian-American, German-American, Mexican-American etc, either you are an American, or you are not, pretty simple.
