The season is a bit muted for me this year. It is too soon after my brother Sam's passing. But I am doing well this year. And so Happy Christmas season to one and all, even grumpy old bastards like farmerman. We had our snow a few weeks back. Not certain if any of the kids will be around. The wife and I are a bit closer lately than a few times in the past and our health is not in decline. We face the coming year with optimism.

Grumpy atheist bitch joining in..

I think it'll snow tomorrow, given the sky today. I stared at a snow shovel pile at the grocery store today and said no. I may regret this. But.. I trust it'll be gone by Friday, er, Christmas.

I had been planning to rain on Dys and Diane's christmas meal with some vegetables, aka spinaci in butter and garlic but .. the spinach looked wretched.
Stares at bag full of green beans..

@ossobuco,
Oh, well; I don't like the taste of spinach anyway.

@edgarblythe,
So, that worked out, then..

Christmas in Lucca, a murano glass tree in the roman amphitheater -

@ossobuco,
I should add that I'm not clear that I like that. I like some murano glass stuff - almost bought a chandelier a long time ago that would have been a good buy, at least for my personal pleasure, not caring about resale value. I liked some of what I saw in the display room and the cost wasn't outlandish, then. I'd like to see this one in the context of the interior amphitheater "piazza".

@edgarblythe,
or plastic, which it clearly isn't. Well, hey, I like the amphitheater.

I wasn't criticising. It may take a bit of getting used to, but I think I could appreciate it.

@ossobuco,
Better in context -

Ok here's a link, a very large link, oy vey, so I'll not connect the image here - though clicking on the link, it's ok.

(It's ok, I don't hate it, I don't love it, working on it.)

I do love the amphitheater, what a place, photos from my visit to show sometime. And I can see the context of the ancient place and the contemporary glass techno extravaganza.

@ossobuco,
I'm also not clear that the photo of the lit tree in the piazza reflects the glass design in the earlier photo.. might be different years.

My daughter invited us over for dinner, but they are having turkey. Me n the missus wants ham. Tomorrow evening will be the family get-together at my sister in law's home. BYOLoneStar.
My fave gift this year has been a pair of very nice gloves. Hey, I don't thrive on getting lots of stuff. Certain PMs and email messages have meant more to me than anything else.

My favorite gift was a pair of very nice gloves, from a resident at the apartments. Very nice gesture, especially since I did not even see her to wish Merry Christmas.
