It's almost over. 2013 may make or break us. I could dig up my resolutions from ten years ago. Or not. I plan to keep on the present course regardless. I wish for all prosperity and a better life. Just don't look to me if it doesn't happen. Peace.

@edgarblythe,
This season I am so wrapped in my own problems I haven't yet felt the season, emotionally. But it will come and so I offer my best wishes, now.

Yes, I deny all possibility that there may be gods or God. Yet, the season is sacred to me. It harbors nostalgia for the past, when I felt a bit of special favor for and from people around me. An island of humanity in an otherwise too cruel world.
Then, there is my belief that humanity must have tradition to reenforce our best values. There is much to be gained from a day in which we take stock of ourselves for the past year, whatever our inclination regarding religion. The notion of Peace On Earth, Good Will To Men is universal in its scope and should be embraced by all. In my humble estimation, "A Christmas Carol" is the greatest story any person has written.
And, so, as we approach these days, this atheist at least wishes you one and all:
Happy Thanksgiving! and: Merry Christmas!
I’m with you Edgar, the only reason I celebrate the holiday season is for the kid, once he’s old enough and figures out things for himself is when I’ll be done with the silly Holiday.

Went to Walmart to get the dog a chew bone. I almost bought a ten movie DVD of WC Fields movies, but passed on it. The store was about medium crowded, but they had half of the registers and half of the self service lanes closed. Instead of standing behind fifteen people to check out, I pushed the basket with the bone into a nearby aisle and beat it out of there. The line to cross the street to get to Kroger was even longer than the check out lines, so I took an exit near the new movie theater and headed for home. Traffic is insane up there any more.
It's on a Thursday this year. The 28TH. I plan to eat at my daughter's house. The no work meal.

I have posted this elsewhere on a2k, but, instead of writing something for Christmas this year, I am reprinting a few lyrics.
Each year, I write something for Christmas. Sometimes I like the result, sometimes not. The big problem for me is, all the cliches and nice phrases are overworked by thousands of writers and would be writers. It's hard to get beyond that and still sound "Christmasy."
"My Gift For You Will Be"
written with Tony Bennet's voice in my ear
My gift to you will be
More than a prize
Underneath a Christmas tree
Wise and wonderful bride
A star will take us
On a magical ride
Soon you will see
The world below us will be
A jewel in the mist
O’er it we pause
Shocking Mister Claus
With a long lover’s kiss
My love for you will be
More than a prize
More than a prize
