Newsmax.com - Iraqi Documents Show al-Qaida Ties

By: Kenneth R. Timmerman Article Font Size

A much-publicized report released by the Pentagon last week details the extensive ties between the regime of Saddam Hussein and a wide variety of international terrorist organizations, including Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida.

“Despite their incompatible long-term goals, many terrorist movements and Saddam found a common enemy in the United States,” the report’s authors at the Institute for Defense Analysis (IDA) state.

But instead of reporting on this conclusion, most of the media accounts have focused on a single sentence that appears in the executive summary, stating that the report’s authors found “no smoking gun” or “direct connection” between Saddam’s Iraq and al-Qaida.

The United States Joint Forces Command, which commissioned the report from IDA, provided reporters late last week with a CD containing nearly 2,000 pages of supporting documents that purportedly formed the basis of the conclusions authored by Lt. Col. Kevin Woods and James Lacey in the 94-page redacted summary that initially was leaked to the press.

Nah.....there's some truth to it, or it would have happened eventually. SH was a trouble-maker. Inevitably, he would've gotten involved with AQ just to screw with us. "My enemy's enemy is my best friend."

At least Bush got re-elected, war, warts, speech-impediment and all.:headbang:

PS: Carter's response to the Iranian hostage crisis was to shut himself in the Oral Office and read about Islam. WTF, over?

Small taters. Small taters. Again, "my enemy's enemy is my friend." SH was a spoiled brat. He wanted attention, despite his slimebaggie status in the world. Ever heard of the 'spoiling attack'? It's a desperate, crazy, blind punch tossed at the enemy, with just enough force to cause serious damage. You don't expect to win the fight. You just want to inflict maximum pain, in a short burst, maybe even while going out in glory. SH thought we were PC punks, because we let him hang on to power at the end of Gulf War I, and because of the silly way we dealt with his many no-fly-zone violations. He didn't take us or the UN seriously, and enjoyed toying with us.

You have no idea how much 'research' I've done, or of what kind. Let's just put it this way -- for 15 years I held the highest security clearance and access anyone can have in the military. Most of my jobs required me to do just ONE thing, day in, day out -- RESEARCH.

The SH commentary is just my own slant, however. I never worked the ME.

He got attention and then he got dead. What would your response be for shooting at our planes in the no fly zone? Complain to the UN that he isn't playing fair or kick his ass? We know you can only complain but we decided to remove him because were doers not complainers.
