I just read a message lifted from a blog with this title....

Any comments on what we call the media these days?

Are they desperate following the inception of one-on-one interaction through the internet? That we no longer need their hysteria?

Do they remain valuable and necessary to our way of life?

We do not have our own ideas or thughts and we have no knowledge of the world aroud us. The media gives us these things, we think the way they want us too.

American media is junkie. It's not complete propaganda, just money-chasing sensationalism. Our entire way of life is based on making a profit. This is one negative result. We enjoy positive results most of the time, but there is a down-side. This is one aspect of it.

I often worry media are focused on changing the culture of the nation to suit their owners' agendas - or accomplishing favors for important people.

In addition to terrible bias which we are all aware of...they seem to lack any sense of ethics or morality - giving really researched information to the public.

I wonder where the dreams and ideals of the writers who sign on to these grab bags of sensation go when they replace their desire to effect positive change - to trade garbage for bucks.

The media views itself as a liberal crusader for human rights. That, mixed with profit incentive, makes for wild-arsed reporting and incomplete coverage of real news. It's a by-product of our dynamic, filthy-rich society in which only the best salesmen survive. Watching the news is sort of like listening to a host of used car salesmen giving pitches, one after another, each trying to get the sale.

I completely agree. Look up the "lemming effect"... The media molds peoples opinions. People need to think for themselves.

As for media, I watch and believe the news that most reflects my personal views. Fox=conservative, MSNBC=progressive, CNN=socialist, in my humble opinion.

I think the south and southwest are in for some summer which brings tears to my eyes.

When I was growing up in Vancouver I begged for the rain to stop and I promised myself I would find a place in the sun so I wouldn't have to worry about rainy days and rain delays.

I found a place - and now I complain about the heat.

Humans (this one anyway) are never satisfied.

I'm never satisfied. When I moved from the coast, to north and inland from Orange County I noticed that instead of warm days and cool nights like at the beach, I now have hot days and cold nights. But, last night was great - sat outside by the fireplace and watched the planes fly over on their way to OC airport. Life is good.
