Anyway, that appears to be the space ship from the Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers serials of the 1930s, and it's just possible that the guy on the far left is Buster Crabbe (who appeared in both).

Old films are often grainy -- especially after being reproduced by analog means before being digitized. I just saw a restored version and it still left a lot to be desired.

Not Flash Gordon -- it's a full length movie.
