The greyhound raced around the track,
the whippit was gaining, only one length back,
the boxer was just too stocky to compete
but the pug came in last due to his small feet.

leopard

bontebok
silverfish

Loping, the leopard in pursuit of the hind
With the puffin puffin not far behind.
There's a jaunty jock astride a bontebok, riding for disaster
And a silverfish nibbling away the wall behind the plaster.

Landseer's stag hangs on the wall, the Monarch of the Glen
Seal will dine on herring, with a salmon now and then
Silkworms prefer mulberry, and spin with no regret
Snow bunting bedecks Val d' Isere, on a jour de fete

"If you are cold, you should wear a ptarmigan,
And I hate that fashion for mountain hair!"
Her mum's like an eagle, a real old harridan
A wildcat in her lair.

The weasel's mentioned in a song - the one that goes POP
Vivien's panther's always running - that fellow just won't stop
The ermine, his fur's softer than a velvet glove
But the best one here is "peace and love" as depicted by the dove.

Cougar
Schnauzer
Fawn
Lamb

Cougar is cool, he's a real mean critter
Schnauzer is woffly, a good baby sitter.
In 'Alice' a fawn is with her through the wood,
And roast lamb on a spit is really good!

Hey Raggedy Aggie, that was a good one!
And Clary doesn't need any praise from me.
Enjoying those.
But, you won't like this: (haven't thought of it yet)

Tree kangaroo: Wow, is there such a beast?
A tree frog can hop on a twig, at least
You see ground hogs basking, shooting the breeze,
And a leaf cutters chopping at the leaves from the trees

Honour your partners, dosey-doe
Three to get ready and away you go

mayfly
nymph
wasp
bumblebee

I may fly says the mayfly, in May,
The nymph Daphne was turned into a bay
Tree, wasn't she? A wasp sting isn't funny;
Unlike a bumblebee, it doesn't make honey.

ferret, panda, wombat, chameleon

A ferret may eat carrots,
Because pandas cannot eat parrots.
A wombat cares not for flying,
As a chameleon gives no thought to hiding.

walrus, hamster, seasnake, dragon.

Said the walrus to the carpenter, 'Oh!
A small hamster is eating my toe!
There's a seasnake in my oyster stew,
And dragonballs are in there too!'

Polecat stinks, and needs a shave
Okapi, antelope, look divine
Lumpfish goes just fine with wine

slow worm

sea horse
On a topical note, there's an Easter bunny,
Don't call me a slow worm, so true it's not funny.
A Rolex oyster would be a nice buy
They sell sea horses here, all dead and dry.

I previously owned a glowworm,
My dachshund likes water lukewarm.
I once magicked up a borzoi,
It ate my pig's favorite toy.

snail, lemur, rabbit, tarsier

The snail crawls on its stomach like an army,
For endangered lemurs, life is far from palmy.
There are too many rabbits as avatars -
The best place for that tarsier is behind iron bars.

What in the world is a musquash?
A mink's relative? Or a type of goulash?
I bet it looks like a fox,
Just like a lynx looks somewhat like an ox.

A kiwi is as different from a fruit,
As an ox is different from a suit.
It's like comparing a springbok to a wok,
Or like saying that fleas wear Reebok.

The fruit bats go batty for fruit,
An asp is a poisonous brute.
A duck is happiest when well fed,
And the dodo? The dodo is dead. Sad

With what porpoise are you going to sea?
To cure my amoebic dys-en-te-ry!
