Seahorse
waterdog
teddybear
toy poodle

Oh say can you sea horse over the sea?
While the water dog makes his mark with his pee.
As a bed companion, I've a teddy bear (smile)
Better than a toy poodle with a silly hair style.

Goanna is fertiliser, good for your roses
Elephant seal does what it says on the tin
Albatross, seabird flavour, is what one supposes
Your cat would prefer if you're getting some in

(okay it's not couplets and it's not fertiliser, but I'm tired) Smile

peewit

A wrench to leave a wren,
A finch or roosting hen -
But nothing like the emotional arrow
When you leave a peewit or a sparrow.

Poor Goosander, so sick, his skin's yellow.
Thinks good health's a goose and a gander pillow
Uses hedgehogs to scratch an itch
And a tamworth hog to cure his twitch

The guinea pig's stuck up the yippidee tree,
The hamster's blind and he can't see me,
The gerbil's lost in a coconut maze,
And the mouse is singing 'songs of praise'.

An earwig bit me, thought I stomped him dead
Jumped up and nipped me pointer, now I saw red
I tried to flee on the water boatman's ride
Only to go, where the tsetse fly reside

Llama, a priestly sounding beast
Uses a camel for a priest.
Gorilla, a fighting name, just might
Use a grizzly bear to fight.

I'm a fan of all breeds, harrier's my pick
The Glen of Imman terrier's, just as slick
The foxhound has nose beyond compare
But the beagle has a unique sense of flair

Kiddies' corner animals, kitty comes to see
Puppy waddles after her, then he does a pee;
See the little bunnies - oh no, they're having sex!
And here are little piggies with pink fat hairy necks.

No langoustine for me, so said the mobster
I'll have winkle steamed in wine, or maybe lobster.
The mussel can stay buried in mud by the streams
As for a pearl in an oyster - Ha, only in your dreams.

Caribou freely roam the great northern plain
Swift Gazelles dart round, trying not be slain
Over their broodmares, Stallions reigns supreme
Sadly wanting Appaloosa's wild dream

I do not like any kind of snake
Can't even watch a sepent eat a cake
Wouldn't imagine an asp very cool and calm
Or even a viper with his toingue near my palm

The larvae in Java are rather blue

A red admiral butterfly flies to the sea
Leaving my weasel, my gerbil, and me.

Ring-tailed lemurs climb a lot
Rhinos don't, and live where it's hot
Rottweiler's frightening, big and fierce
Rodents nibble, it appears

Crocodile, turtle, tortoise. gnu,
Lived at the end of London zoo.
Don't you wish you lived there too?
With crocodile, turtle, tortoise, gnu?

sorry, it just sort of happened that way. Here are 4 animals I've seen this week:

elephant
whiskered tern
cattle egret
mosquito

The elephant basks by the river so wide
The whiskered tern flutters and darts by his side
Cattle egret remind me of Edith Piaf
And mosquitos all sting me a lot, for a laugh

I saw a badger outside our house early one morning last week! My first.

badger (I've never seen one, well done; it's these early mornings you do)
skunk
raccoon
snapper

A badger is a stripy type
A skunk smells more'n a little ripe.
A raccoon's coat is smart and dapper
And I love a ginger-steamed red snapper!

A vole in a hole once encountered a mole
Sheltering there from an ibis's beak
A wren with a yen for a tot now and then
Saw a lynx in the shade by a creek

vaulting horse

Mount the pantomime horse and it gives you a shock;
But the rocking horse gives a nice gentle rock.
On a hobby horse the bore gives you ennui
We're too old for the vaulting horse now, aren't we?

That's terrible, but the best I can do this early in the morning..

Poodle doggies prance around in showrings, say at Cruft's
Pumas roam the Andes, or are seen in cases, stuffed
Peacock holds its plumes erect, just to delight the eye
Pekes peek out from tunic sleeves as mandarins pass by.

whippet
boxer
