The azure-rumped tanager is a New World bird
The canary is oft kept in a cage which is quite absurd
The penguin eats fish and stands very tall
While the armadillo eats grubs and rolls in a ball.

Cod on the Grand Banks used to abound
Bass I will catch, if there's any around
Dab is small, can be used as bait
Crusted weed-fish look odd on your plate

The ostrich can run fast and bury its head
But not simultaneously, be it said
The camel is viscious and humpy and smells
But good in the desert, where there's not many wells
The wolverine's lupine, with furrier hair
Bad attitude counts for a lot, so beware
The gnat is just one of these pestilent flies
That gets in your hair and your ears and your eyes
The midge and the black fly, there's quite a few more
Just waiting their chance when you go out the door.

-If a tree falls in the forest and there's nobody there to hear it, will they still be bitten by midges?

The heron stared from the river bed
To watch the kite fly overhead
Then it plunged and caught a newt
And the tadpole thought I'd better scoot.

Avocet, elegant bird in flight
Accentor, beats me, try as I might
I can't remember, silly baboon
I'll go and badger my wife, then sit doon

With a dictionary, birdbook, or other tome
To identify accentor, when it's at home

The Sugar Gliders are cute indeed,
The Genet roams around with speed,
The Short Tail oppossums busily breed,
while the Corn snake hunts along with greed.

Try this:

Boa Constrictor
Tarsier

The boa constictor coils with ease,
the Tarsiers are happy to live in the trees.
The ceolacanth is not extinct,
the Yokohama Rooster is rarely succinct.

Gave the Manatee a cause to purr
