I liked Benny Hill, but they cancelled it.
I liked James At 16, but they cancelled it.
I liked Desert Storm, but they cancelled it.
I liked Lazy Town, but they cancelled it.
I liked Animal Planet, until it turned into SPCA Cops.
I liked History Channel until I got tired of refighting WW2.
Now I don't even know how to change channels on the new tvs.
It was awful, should have been cancelled much sooner, fortunately they've not shown his crap since it was cancelled. (Not over here at least.) Blame the new wave of decent, funny comedians like Ben Elton.
Which in itself lead to a fantastic piece of satire.
So what? Benny Hill is dead, and Ben Elton is still writing iconic comedy.
Probably a bit too highbrow for your tastes.
Btw, Blackadder is shown over and over again on youtube and on the telly.

Back Adder was one of my favorites.
As I interpret black adder it is the story of a man’s family and related English families from the Middle Ages to World War I. I thought the way the series ended on the battle field in WW I was quite poignant
I don't know how I could have missed this thread the first time around. Doesn't matter.
The Sopranos (still IMO da best)
Prime Suspect (Helen Mirren was and is brilliant)
Your Show of Shows (I watched a retrospective of this recently. Laughed til I cried. How could I not laugh? Mel Brooks, Neil Simon, Woody Allen, Larry Gelbart, etc., were the writers. And Caesar was great.)
I just got a DVD from Maryland Public TV with hopefully many of the old "Your Show of Shows".....I haven't watched it yet..hopefully this weekend
I thought Helen Mirren was fantastic in Prime Suspect

It is Season 21, and I am still watching, and enjoying, "Law & Order, SVU". I love how Mariska Hargitay has developed in the show. I really don't know how the writers can come up with interesting stories, year after year, and not get boring.

But I did find the wrap-up to be about as good a finale as I've ever seen on TV. I know that many Homeland fans disagree with that considerably, but I felt it was just about the only way for it to end decently.
Frankly, I expected Carrie to be killed, instead. Happy it didn't happen.

@Riddler101,
you see best is a rather subjective matter and it depends on different genres there are ,but since you are talking about TV i assume the dominant genre happens to be comedy and/or sitcom. the best comedy TV show/series that i have watched in Friends. it a story about friends and some of the story writers were actually psychologists so besides laughter, you will get something more from friends.

The Newsroom, created and written by Aaron Sorkin was stupendous. If you have not viewed it, binge on it first chance you get.
They’re showing Bored to Death over. I really like it, there are wonderful lines like, “Leah has just had her nose broken by a homosexual tiger in Brooklyn.”
