@tsarstepan,
This guy reminds me of Morandi, but never mind.

Within the paintings as a group, there are deeply saturated colors and creamlike ones with lots of oranges, corals, golds, a smidge of green, some dark blues, and chocolate milks.. plus dark glorious greys/grey browns.

@ossobuco,
Maybe time to look up Morandi, back in a bit.

Ok, click on the slide show... again, not all the colors in one painting necessarily, but among them they have interest to me -

I really enjoyed the colours of PF, because to me, they felt warm and homely.
This all seems very generic and clinical.
There should be different templates to choose from.

Quite a few people don't like you to do it in public, but they can kiss my ass.

Ok, when we do the upcoming design overhaul we'll do it in a way that let's members pick from various different color schemes (perhaps even in a way that lets them do it themselves).

Out of curiosity I'm wondering what the membership preference trends towards though, as I'll want to make the default more palatable for those who don't like it.

I'd be interested in seeing which of these color schemes you like the most, for example:

Perhaps one of the new options could be to leave it as is?

I'd just like a color scheme that doesn't turn my computer screen into the Sun of my room, emitting all kinds of bright white light, from which text is a chore to properly discern.

I agree that the colors at the old PhilForum were decent, if a bit gloomy...I prefer darker grays over any white or black on websites, combined with some nice, but not overwhelming, colors.

That olde tyme theme isn't bad. Also the one called "orange in the big city" I kind of like (listed under 'popular' but not highest rated).

@Robert Gentel,
Interesting.. but in many of them the lightest color seems to be some sort of yellow, and I agree w/ehBeth on not being excited about that. But, given the choice, I like the "a soul returns home" one.

@Robert Gentel,
Wow - some great combos over there. I'll be looking for a while.

I like Explorations in Clay and Old Tyme - not much difference between the two, just two colour panels.

Either way, I'm not complaining - yes, it's white, but it could be neon green or yellow or some horrible mustard colour. I notice the background and colours about as much as I noticed the Popular Area and the numbers on the Thumbs up/down.

And, second, the Szymb (etc) one.

So do I. I mostly browse news sites...NYTimes and other papers that all have white backgrounds. One forum I visit has a shade of blue/gray with black print that I find more challenging (not impossible) to read.

I kind of like the 'Martha Stewart' colors here LOL. It's not a big deal either way, though. Overall, I find the site, as it is, tremendously easy to navigate.

@Robert Gentel,
Well, that was a little overwhelming, but I liked "old thyme" and "tangerine park", the further I went the least I liked.

@Irishk,
Be interesting if Martha Stewart had a website color selection device..

Anyway, in both of my choices I'd beige/cream up the light color if I could manipulate them.

While a few choices of skins would be nice, it is far down my priority list. At the beginning either Chumly or Cyclo was going on and on about wasted space, which was true and is a significant problem, but this is better now. I think that the white overload is mostly because the wasted space problem has never been fully solved.

@ossobuco,
That was the term one of the philo folks used to describe the scheme here LOL. To be honest, I never paid much attention before. Now that it's been brought to my attention, I like it Smile Kudos to whomever put it together. If it changes...c'est la vie.
