That sounds like Ankiel, all right. The last time I checked, he's ready for another comeback. I'm rooting for him; I read an article that depicted his old man as one of those hard-driving SOB fathers of young athletes.

You guys are lucky to be where the action is in the spring! One of these years I have to get to Fla. My sister now lives in Orlando, close by the Braves camp...

What bugs me about Canseco: He sounds like he's preaching the virtues of steroids. I think about kids who will read that and start using 'roids. Talk about a bad influence.

You must've just watched the same 60 Minutes interview with him, just now, as I did.

I think it's interesting no one wants to deny anything on-camera and everyone's calling him a liar (including the White House, which knows a thing or two about lies).

Missed Canseco; I was out drinking with cronies and watching the Sonics lose to Dallas. A Seatte Times baseball writer says Canseco is a bastard, but how do we know he's lying? He fingered Boone of the Mariners...

Again, and again. If you knew anything about steroids, chances are he's not lying. Him, Bonds, McGwire, Sosa...they show SO many signs of steroid use it's not funny. From what I hear, he's only exposing some guys he played with, not pointing fingers all over MLB.

Look at McGwire. Guys don't naturally develop acne scars on their necks, and put on 30-ish lbs of lean muscle when they're in their thirties.

Pitchers and catchers are in, most of the position players are on their way and we're still talking about 'roids? Barry's really going to be in for some fan abuse as he chases down Hank.

If anyone's interested in playing fantasy baseball PM me and I'll give you the skinny about my league.

Did anyone see any of Barry's rambling monologue last week? What a jerk. "You writers think you can walk into my place of work and start asking me questions." Someone needs to remind Barry how much money he earns in return for that surrender of privacy...

Steinbrenner is miffed at the agent because NYY was finessed on the steroids issue on Giambi's contract. What a hoot!

I saw some of the Mets-Nationals yesterday. Was home recovering from elbow surgery. I like to think I had Tommy John surgery--and I'll be back next season with more velocity than ever!

But seriously...it was fun watching some ball. Looked nice and warm in Fla...

it was obvious that you were exceeding your pitch count toward the end of the year.
what the hell were bobby & leo thinking??
sure, you set a new record for innings pitched in a season -- but was it really worth it...

And the Yankees and Pirates are about to begin, at this moment, from Legends Field (tune to ESPN)...

I'm old school, Region. Don't believe in pitch counts. Now I have a bunch of stitches in my elbow to prove it. Should've listened to Leo...

Re NYY-Pirates: This was to be Randy's start, but he hurt his leg. Anyone care to speculate on what kind of year he may have?

most mega-free agent pitchers fail to dominate when they go to the bronx (d.wells & d.cone are 2 exceptions that come to mind...) i can see the media pressure getting to him by midseason... he was a .500 pitcher the past 2 years for a cellar-dweller... he'll get his 275 k's, but i'd be shocked if he wins 20.

I don't see how he won't win 20+ if he's healthy all season. He's too good a pitcher, I don't think the "pressure" will get to him. Not like he's never been in the playoffs before.

He's 41, though. All good things must come to an end. Though, I must say, I never expected Nolan Ryan to last as long as he did. Same with Clemens...
