@msolga,
Earplugs is a must carry-on for me; not only on the plane (with crying babies in the next seat), but my roommate be a real loud, earth shaking, snoorer. LOL

@msolga,
What cushions help with the elephant ankles?

I have a cushion to double for my bum and my back.

I have earplanes for ascending and descending.

@dlowan,
It depends on how long your legs are, Deb.
Not being a tall person, mine never quite sit comfortably on the floor.
Having your feet raised a bit, in a stable position so you're comfortable, can really help.
I was an absolute mess after the long flight from Oz to London. I shouldn't have taken my shoes off, either! Almost couldn't get then back on!
I have small ankles, but after that flight, I swear I had NO ankles what-so-ever!

@msolga,
Hmmm...might get a floor cushion.

My legs are always a mess.

@msolga,
I'd gotten to be aggressive, get up and stand for a while, at least to thwart clots. This is harder in some seats. This can be embarrassing.

@dlowan,
It really helped me.
And those plastic, inflatable ones use up almost no space in your baggage.
Also consider the eye shades & ear plugs, too.
On that same flight to London, guess who found themselves in the seat right opposite the kitchen?
The staff supplied me with the shades & plugs, other wise I wouldn't have been able to sleep at all.
Oh that was such a fun flight!

@msolga,
I also find it relaxing to take off my shoes, and rest them on the pillow they provide.

@dlowan,
I know I'm impressed. I never ever slept a single minute on a plane and I have tried just about every time I took a trip including the several cross-Atlantic trips to Europe (Germany and France).

@dlowan,
Well, I did a bit, Deb.
Or did my best to.
At least it helps to be as comfortable as possible, in "cattle class". (Not easy.)

Think about flight socks. They were wonderful in stopping my feet swelling on the long flights.
