Could some member/s confirm whether/if I am correct?

1. Is the question correctly phrased?

2, If it is, should I use 'whether' or 'if'?

Thanks in advance.

@tanguatlay,
I would say or write, 'Would someone confirm whether or not I am correct?'
or, 'Would someone confirm if I am correct.'

I wouldn't use 'could' in this instance.

In other words, in my own vernacular, my first choice would be to use whether, but I wouldn't use it without 'or not' . This may just be my own specific usage as both my parents were southern and I grew up hearing 'whether or not' quite a lot in my home, although when I think about it, I didn't hear it very much outside my home, so I don't know if it's a southern thing or not...in my mind's ear I hear it said with a southern accent - and people always say they can hear a little bit of the south in my language (word choices, not my accent) - I wonder if saying 'I don't know whether or not I'll go' is an example of that- or not.
Maybe someone who has no southern influences on their language could answer that for you.
