I would argue on principle that as Giuliani was the mayor of NYC, it can not be said that he failed to connect with people because he obviously did. What is more interesting is that while he was living with his mistress as mayor and angering people, as soon as 9/11 occurred, he was more than forgiven, he was lauded.

@ossobuco,
That's alright. Thank you. I feel that . . . based on how easily people change their minds . . . it is necessary to keep the sort of contradictions palin displays in front of everyone.

I am really appalled by the women who claim to identify with her. . . which is closer to my point than anything else.

What intrigue? If you put it in a dumpster, then anyone is free to come and take it. We perform security audits for financial institutions, and we regularly go dumpster diving to see if they're tossing out information that's supposed to be confidential.

@DrewDad,
If you read the link I posted with that remark, DrewDad, you would have found that there is controversy about how the documents were obtained.

The students claim they found the papers in a dumpster. However, the university contends that the papers were left in a recycling bin in an office, and had not been discarded. Therefore, they are claiming that either someone broke into the office to get the papers, or someone with access to the office took the papers.

@firefly,
Well, people will say a lot of things when they're trying to cover their butts.

IMO, leaving a sensitive document in a recycling bin is pretty dumb, too.

This is at least part of the problem....

I mean that's just ordinary women in pubbie politics vs the most recognizable group which the demoKKKrats have to offer, i.e. that's before you even get to "populist" labels and beauty prize material like Sarah Palin...

Ever wonder how anybody gets that ugly? I mean, nobody is BORN that ugly; you really have to work at it. What you see in the faces and eyes of those demmy broads is a lifetime of sin and corruption.

@OmSigDAVID,
Aren't ya'll embarrassed to post something so incredibly shallow and dumb?

First, the idea that people's appearances even matter in the marketplace of ideas is incredibly shallow.

Second, the idea that people's appearances somehow reflect the intelligence or "goodness" of their ideas borders on the schizophrenic. No dumb person is ever stupid? No ugly person is ever smart?

Reflect on Jessica Simpson and Alfred Einstein for a minute.

Third, the fact that you promulgate such an obviously slanted image is pretty disgusting. Cherry-picked glamor shots vs. cherry-picked unflattering shots. You guys sure are fair....

Finally, the sexism inherent in this is just off the chart.

So the bottom line here is: way to represent, fellows. You are the true face of conservatism, IMO.

@DrewDad,
I agree DD. The posts representing people's faces and trying to make their looks somehow a judgement on their ideas or behaviors are disgusting.

@plainoldme,
Wasn't it just a few days ago that you posted nonsense about liberal's too fervently believing in the inherent goodness of people? Maybe it was your son's comment.

In any case I'd be interested in how you reconcile such tripe with your condescending view of people who don't agree with you: The Great Unwashed.

I suppose you recognize how good they really are despite their stupidity and lack of sophistication. If only they would just shut up and do what you, your son and Obama want them to. All would be well in the world.

BTW - Did you see the story in the NYT that reported that on average, Tea Party supporters are better educated and make more money that other Americans? Which group is The Great Unwashed?

Yes, I "a'll" are not embarrassed.
I feel fine; thanx for your concern.

Not everything in the world is deep; some things r shallow.
Everything does not have to be deep.
I can accept diversity of depth.

In addition to being a conservative, I 'm also an Individualist libertarian and a hedonist, the latter
being in operation qua the post in question.

how? it is garden variety dumb but that is all. There is nothing sexist or otherwise wrong with wanting females to be attractive. We are human, we have sexual urges, and a preference for the visually pleasing over the ugly. Why are you denying your normal human response to the world around you?

I think we should only elect people who look hot. What's more important, brains and ability, or simply looking good?

All across America, women of a certain political persuasion and socioeconomic level have burbled to reporters on their love for the half-term ex-governor, giddily proclaiming, "She is just like me!"

Sarah Palin as Miss Wasilla 1983,
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nYzLjNEUdPk/SLqhGDlRgGI/AAAAAAAAB4o/2Cp0U3unqkU/s400/Sarah+Palin+Miss+Alaska.jpg

plainoldme, if those women believe, "She is just like me!", they have failed to notice the crown. Sarah has, metaphorically speaking, never taken it off. She never was like them. The lady considers herself a queen. The demands, that are in addition to her $100,000 fee, just for delivering a speech at a university, are absurd, but also a dead giveaway about how she regards herself. This is a half-term governor, who currently supports herself with royalties from a ghost written book, and with fees from delivering ghost written speeches, and who could list her few former accomplishments on the palm of her hand (to help her remember them). She's an entertainer, a crowd pleaser, a celebrity. If the celebrity-crazed want to indulge her, and jump up and down for her, that's their problem. Why let it bother you?
