@dyslexia,
Dys,

I find it hard to come up with an intelligent reply. We talked about your brother in real life ten days ago; he wasn't doing well even then. So, part of me is very sad -- I'd be devastated it one of my sisters were in Charles's position. Yet another part of me is relieved that the end of his suffering is in sight. Both parts of me wish they could be in ABQ together with you.

Such sad news. I hope his passing will be peaceful. 51 is awfully young, even for someone who has been through a lot.

I'm sorry, Bob. I'm sort of at a loss for words. I so wish I could say something that would make it easier for you. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. Go give Diane a hug.

well, Charles was taken off life support and moved to the Hospice center at 3 p.m. on sunday, he only receives morphine drip for pain but is still hanging on as of this morning. He is still blind and unable to speak.

@littlek,
something I learned last night, the Morphine drip Charles is getting will, in effect, be the cause of death as Morphine at the rate he is getting it for pain suppresses his respiratory system enough to cause death. No one seems to know why he is still alive. The hospice center where he is is pretty neetd, totally non-medical, his mate (Joe) is basically living there with Charles and Charles can due whatever he wants. should he decide he wants a cartoon a cigarettes and a fifth of whisky it's his for the asking (not that he would) it all sounds very humane compared to dying in a medical facility.
