Tomorrow is a public holiday. I need not go to work.

1. Tomorrow being a public holiday, I need not go to work.
2. It being a public holiday, I need not go to work.

Are both sentences correct in joining the above sentence?

@tanguatlay,
Yes, they are both correct, although sentence number two probably ought to read: "It being a public holiday tomorrow, I need not go to work."

Many thanks for pointing out the missing 'tomorrow', which was inadvertently left out.
