@Ragman,
Tomorrow is the day. I am gonna make changes at this job. I'll make sure no customers ever complain again.

@dirrtydozen22,
There you go...that's the change in attitude we should have seen many days ago. You're heading in the right direction now.

If you'd like to get some feedback on your plans for changing things around, there are a lot of people here with experience on both sides of the problem who can give you good counsel.

@OmSigDAVID,
Not opening my own business. I went in today about my hours and they told me to work 7-2 tomorrow. I'll see how it goes from there.

It is tempting to ask how you plan to dispose of customers who look like they might be thinking of complaining.

@djjd62,
No complaints from roger.

You know, I have never complained about a store employee. I think some people just don't, and some do it just for the entertainment value.

Well the real problem is that I acted like my boss mistreats me and customers complain about that. Then she gets into trouble by her superiors. All I have to do is prolly not act that way again. Maybe keep my voice down. Look happy. I'll meet w/ her the 2nd time on Wednesday and see if I'm still "doing good" and "on track."

My coworker was not given any hours for 2 weeks for attitude problem. The 3rd week, she got one day. Thereafter, she earned back ALL her hours. She prolly went through the same things I'm going through.

This worries me - don't maybe keep your voice down. This voice business could be a big part of your problem at work.

You didn't respond to my question, if your whole family is rather loud, or not. You may need a voice coach or speech therapist, and I'm not kidding. That may be an extreme idea, but I'd like to hear that you are working on this yourself, paying attention to other people's voice levels and trying to modulate your own.

@ossobuco,
You can tell I think the voice loudness is important - but I do wish you well, dd.

It turns out when she let me come back to work, she's making me an as-needed person right now. If I could keep up the good work in the longer-run, she will put me back on schedule. So far, they're calling me in once a week (except last week they called me in twice.) I haven't screwed any of that up.

Yesterday was particualrly good. We get along better now. I checked with her at the end of my shift and it turned out I did a good job. Besides all that, she kept me longer than I was called in to work even after it died down.

I'm grateful I still have this job. My friends and even my counselor said what I did is enough to have gotten me canned. I have a question though. Does that mean I'm on track to earning back being on schedule? Because frankly, even though I know thay'll call me, it's hard to cope with the uncertainty of when.

@dirrtydozen22,
It does sound like she is giving you a chance to prove yourself by giving you some time at least once a week. Nice work on keeping aware on how your behavior affects how other's percieve you.

I think if you want to gain more hours you'll definately need to ensure that you repeat the good behavior that your boss recognizes and do that every minute of every day you are in the work place. If you can establish her trust, I imagine she will begin to give you more hours.
