That has already happened. Firemen used to be strong enough to carry another man down a ladder. Now there are women who cant do that, so they have to "man" the hoses
The statement by you that I quoted shows your complete ignorance about how firefighters work and how different firefighters are assigned their roles on a fire.
So the women that forced their way into the fire department are just as strong as the men they replaced ?

@Ionus,
Strength has little to do with fire fighting.
Yes, it is important, but there is more to firefighting then just that.

BTW, I am a firefighter so I know what I'm talking about.

Talk to the others on this thread...expert status means nothing..unless it is only the military that can not be experts...that may be what they mean.

Certainly. But if a man has to be carried out of a building, is a woman going to do that ? If a man has to do it, then with less men and more women we are putting less men in harms way more. What if we had 50% firewomen ? Or even more ? Can the work still be done as effectively ? If strength is unimportant, why do you guys do strength training ?

You are intellectually dishonest.
You are a spoilt brat who demands a yes or no answer to a complex question. Explain quantum theory by answering yes or no...

Standing up and telling us whether you consider the U.S. military to be an effective fighting force is hardly explaining quantum theory. Get over yourself.

The fact is that you are unwilling to answer the question because you don't like the conclusion to which it leads.

Be a man, and tell us if you think the U.S. has an effective military. Or be a gay weasel and continue to refuse to do so.

You are right. It would be harder to explain a military to someone like you.

The fact is left whingers live in a black and white world. Why wont the world do as you tell them ? Stupid world, isnt it diddims ?

You think talking about the military is manly ? Do you bar up thinking about all those men in uniform ? You have made it clear you dont even understand the terminology that would be used. But you want a yes or no answer ? This is typical of you bigots, all demand and no intelligence.

I'm not engaging you in debate. I'm calling you a pussy because you won't man up and take a stand, Nancy.

I think that taking a stand takes a certain amount of moral courage, which you seem to lack.

It just makes you seem cowardly, the way you keep dodging the question.

Big talk, from a coward. Why don't you write down what you need to write to answer the question, and let me deal with any terminology that I have trouble with, m'kay?

You stood for your country for how long ??

In your opinion. And if I wanted your opinion I could get it from any leftist coffee club in the world. Those places are full of heroes like you. Self proclaimed veterans who knock the military because they are scared. They have power issues and they cant understand why the world will not do what they tell it.

Foolish talk from an arsehole who has done what ? What have you done with your life ? Insulted people who have served their country while you whine about how bad it is to be homosexual. Dont take it personally, but you can always get a sex change.

Isnt it horrible when the world wont follow your instructions and tells you point blank your are a ******* idiot for overlooking the most simple problems ? If you were in the same room as me you would **** your little panties. Would that be a turn on or a turn off for your friendly friends ?

You do realize that the entire purpose of this site is to exchange knowledge, right? That's kinda why people come here. So exchange some knowledge, instead of sounding like a fool saying "your are".

Riiiiight. Because it takes a really tough guy to anonymously threaten people over the Internet, right?

You're in a battle of wits, not a fist fight, and it seems you've left your ammo stuffed up your butt.

Ionus is not frightening. In a worst-case scenario:
exactly WHAT is there to fear from Ionus?? Will u explain that ??

According to your reasoning (?),
if Ionus is AWARE of his ignorance,
then he is NOT frightening; is that accurate ?

@OmSigDAVID,
I'm gonna have to go with David on this one.

It's pathetic and sad that Ianus is unaware of his ignorance, but neither frightening nor particularly surprising.

Having the right security clearance means nothing, if one does not "have a need to know."

@Ionus,
You are being an idiot.
I served in the military for over 20 years. I served with men that were gay, and they didnt deny it or hide it.
There was never any problems with them being gay, nor did they ever attempt to "convert" anyone.
They did their jobs, they were valuable members of our unit, and there were never any problems with them being gay.

You should really think about what you are saying and listen to people that have "been there, done that", instead of talking out your hat.

OK, let's do that:

Quote:
In the most recent poll announced by the Military Times newspapers, in answer to the question “Do you think openly homosexual people should be allowed to serve in the military?” 30% of the active duty military subscriber respondents said Yes, but 59% said No, 10% having No Opinion. The same percentage, 59% in opposition, was reported by the Military Times survey in 2006 (Army Times, Jan. 8, 2007).

You all hate Ionus's position, but you cant refute the arguments. Blowing him off as an idiot only works on those who are too stupid to know that his arguments are sound.

@hawkeye10,
His arguments are not sound.
Just because 59% might have opposed it, doesnt mean that gays are going to create tension and try to "convert" anyone.
That is what he seems to be argueing, and that position is idiotic.

@mysteryman,
His argument is that allowing gays to serve openly will hurt the effort that is the primary mission. I believe in the people, so when 60% of the force says that they don' think this policy is a good Idea I assume that they know what they are talking about, and that they believe that letting gays serve openly will hurt the effort, just as Ionus says.

At the end of the year a detailed study of the opinions and concerns of the force will be ready for the Pentagon...hopefully it will be released. I have every confidence that it will say that the majority of the force supports Ionus's position over yours.
