@littlek,
True Christians obey the Word of God which plainly teaches to avoid Atheists.

Rom_16:17  Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

True Christians obey this verse. Nicolaitan Christians do not obey it, they choose to disobey this very and justify doing so, because they think they are going to get through to them, and change them to the light.

Those who draw close to God are they that God will draw close to.

You can't talk a person into drawing close to God, nor will you ever be able to convince an Atheist that there is a God, no not with a million words. let them alone, let them be. Today's Christians trying to reach an Atheist is doing nothing more then throwing pearls to swine, which Scriptures teaches us NOT to do.

Note: i am not suggesting we not answer them when they ask us a question, what i am saying, is we are not to engage them into conversations, or associate ourselves with them.

@chai2,
Best meme ever!

Funny, a few of us on another thread were just discussing why Jesus was such a bastard that he approved of slavery and wanted people to be his.

Guess there is no alternative. As Bob Dylan sang it 'You've got to serve somebody'.

I got to google that and see if that’s a book instead of just a meme. That could be a good read.

@Olivier5,
Amazing isn’t it.

And condemning people for wanting something good for themselves gets four thumbs up. When did wanting good for yourself become immoral?

@Leadfoot,
Obviously the thumb monkeys don t actually read what you write before thumbing it down Otherwise you d have to assume they disapprove of punctuation marks

@Olivier5,
Yes, It would seem that A2K has devolved into a popularity contest.
Hell, the mods should eliminate the text box altogether, just give us bigger thumbs up/down gadgets. Makes moderation easier for them too.
You can’t even agree with someone without getting blasted.

It depends on what you mean by 'good' and what you mean by 'want.'

Hedonism considers pleasure good without considering the broader context of how the pleasure is functioning to produce good/evil. So hedonists consider it good to want pleasure without concern for the effects.

In terms of 'wanting' good, what your id wants is not always good, and what your superego asserts to repress the id's desires aren't always good. So the ego/self is supposed to find a balance between id and superego that's healthy, according to Freud; but that involves balancing wants against higher moral reasoning.
