Is that all you got ? A medieval interpretation of religion ? How do you feel about a medieval interpretation of science ?

You do realize that a well informed atheist would not try to poke fun at a theist's belief but only try and share info with them that might get them to think?

You do realize that both an atheist and a theist alike can come across as hateful?

Neither one of them has perfected an ethical reality!

I have...I'm agnostic....

I have experienced similar confrontations in my lifetime. It is very real and hard-hitting.

Thats just a word game . What was the concept behind all those Gods ? A belief in the power of a God . It is like naming cars to prove you dont have a car .

I could be wrong but that may have been our ancestors history! {Some what!}

But didn't have a line about having no gods before him? That does tend to indicate that Yahweh was a pantheist (with resentment issues).

Yahweh was the God introduced by Moses and he goes to great pains to say that Yahweh is the same God of Abraham, El or Elohim . It seems El was the Moon God and Yahweh was the sun god.....much later the God of the Hebrews became the one and only God but at this stage he was the first of the Gods .

One of the best pieces of evidence that the Jews were once pantheists, or at least acknowledge the existence of other gods comes from Genesis.

Chapter Three, Verse 22, in the King James version:

And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever

"Is become as one of us?" How very plural of them . . .

I find the Bible to be a fascinating history . It shows the development of a single God or monotheism and the development of most of the strong religious principles we now take for granted in our laws and culture .

The development of law for example.....Abraham refuting human sacrifice....an eye for an eye meant no longer were rich people to pay a 50 cent fine for blinding a peasant but if a peasant blinded them the peasant lost his life.....such major advances, far ahead of the surrounding peoples, would take one step forwards and one step backwards throughout history .

Study sociology. That's the most interesting science now. But don't go jumping to any impulsive judgments after the first lecture. The subject has a tendency to go to people's heads.
