@spendius,
It's interesting to hear you say "you are right, because..." which makes no sense to anybody who has been reading your posts. People call you a distractor and a diversionary with good cause. I call you my daily, free, entertainment.

What we have here is a whole gaggle of atheists/agnostics/whatevers feeding Spendi and Ionus and not talking to each other. Their mission is accomplished, the a2k modus of confrontation enjoyment winning out over mutual discussion re the thread topic post. Pretty aggravating but not unusual. JoeNation's thread is going in the same direction.

@cicerone imposter,
I'll tell you something else ci. Picking up on the Frank Apisa thing, a casual aside, is a species of Ignore. The post was not answered. Perhaps you are unaware of that simple fact but some of us are not.

We know when you have crept quietly away in your carpet slippers.

The fact that you told a falsehood about it doesn't really matter to me. I know it's on the record. I'm used to falsehoods on here. An eating and shitting machine, as evolution shows us to be, presenting itself in the best possible light in make-up and sexy outfits, is one giant lie.

Hey--I just saw a real currach with ten on board, in bright red life jackets, on TV. It made me titter a bit. Instead of ROTFLMAO, which is a bit washed up, like the emocs, how about TTISMC. Tittering till I spilt my cocoa. That's for late at night. TTISMT for teatime or TTISMB for pub time. Which it nearly is.

TIT. Tittering induced tantrum.

Which makes you part of the problem of changing the nature of this thread: you're a feeder.

@ossobuco,
The title is Atheism osso. What you want is Atheist's Huddle. Or Hug-in. I would never have entered a thread with that title. It would be impolite.

Start one. If myself and Io can debate between us in private I bet we could really take the piss out of atheists. I can.

I've started 6 threads and I never bothered about off-topic tripe and trolls. The conversation is the thing. You atheists would be fed up with each other in a week if you were left to yourselves. There's only so many times you can talk about the annoyance when a Jesus freak knocks at your door. If you talk about priests diddling choirboys too much people might get the wrong impression.

@spendius,
How would you know, as you interfere constantly in the development of littlek's thread?

I can see where this would lead to atheists becoming a a2k group just to talk, but, snort, that isn't our nature. Any group that would (etc.).

Surely you read littlek's original post and went blithe.

@spendius,
I originally liked Ionus for his wit when it surfaces. I probably still do. The rest I see as plankton.

Farmerman isn't perfect, though approaching so with well padded feet. There's a guy and wife I'd like to meet for a good meal and wide ranging talk. She's no slouch either.

In my experience, it is a characteristic of atheists that they aren't group joiners. I used to think it was rather sad that there were atheist "lions" going on the radio or the teevee to debate the bible thumpers, and that they had groups of followers. I never had any interest. I suspect that such people largely attract the young and callow, who are not so much atheists as anti-religionists. For those people, science (which in my experience they rarely understand) becomes their religion. Not understanding always helps any religious devotion.

There was such a group when i lived in Columbus, but the only people i met who participated were young college kids, who were militantly anti-religious, and if you talked to them long enough, there was a good chance they'd get hostile with you--they had this us and them attitude, this "if you ain't fer us, yer agin us" mindset.

The more mature people i knew, whom i happened to know were atheists, had no interest in joining a group, or having some kind of atheist (allegedly atheist) guru tell them what they should think. Every atheist i've ever know, other than those college kids, never brought it up, and when it did come up, they made no big deal about it. I automatically mistrust the militant atheist types. I don't want the bible thumpers knocking on my door, nor bothering me at the lunch counter--so i sure as hell wouldn't do that myself.

Think how silly it would be to have such a group. What would the members have in common? That they didn't believe something? Kinda of like starting a "we don't own motorcycles" gang.

Now why would that be ? You cant understand why the world does not imitate you, can you **** for brains ? Your ego and personality are just fine according to you, but to everyone else.....well, you dont understand much of everyone else do you ?

You're absolutely right Set - a group (or thread) that discussed their lack of belief garden fairies wouldn't be very exciting. The only thing that binds us together is we live in an outwardly religious societies in which we are a distrusted minority (to a greater or lesser extent depending on where you are in which nation), and occasionally an 'embarrassment' to our families.

Which is where this thread is valid and what it was intended for (forgive me LittleK if I misinterpreted it). Small wonder you see thinkpieces suggesting that atheists could learn from the LBGT struggle for equality.

That said I have had the two feeders on ignore since way before this thread started. Their persistence in a topic that doesn't interest them speaks volumes about their headspaces.

You dont read anything on this thread do you ? It was just a lovely group of atheists sneering about theists like little children telling potty jokes. Lovely people, atheists. Take any drug, **** anything that moves, declare their superiority over God and whinge how bad life is for them. The whole thread was an example of intolerance.

he's oblivious to how christians are trying to a) convert everybody, b) include creationism in our schools, c) deny women the right to their own body, and d) deny equal rights to gays and lesbians.
So we mustn't describe all atheists in the same way....right. Was that an atheist point of view ?

@Setanta,
Now you see, **** for brains, that post of yours was why I have no one on ignore. I learnt from that. I dont necessarily agree with all of it, but it was thoughtful and I would be the worst off for not reading it. I read all of spendis posts and am better off for it. I read everyone's posts.

The lesson from the nazis was not that we have to licence gas ovens but that we shouldnt ostracise any member from our group . It seems many on A2K havent learnt. Having "things in common" as you put it is the mind trying to survive with the minimum of effort, the same way our bodies become unfit from a lack of exercise. Do you want that ?
