nah

not at all

I'm playing just to feel like I have a valid excuse to check out the thread for rjb stories. I could "follow" him, but that feels a bit too sterile for me at this point.

i want to finnish in third place

don't want all the spotlight associated with first, can't take the depression that comes with second (knowing i wasn't good enough to be number 1), but love the third place, knowing you were better than rest of the pack to medal

Well, I have been accused of being too competitive by my wife. I always play to be first. I took about 15 minutes in picking my teams. I googled 2006 winter olympic medal count, then chose the highest count in each tier set up for us hoping they would repeat their prior performance.

Seems to be working ok so far.

Good idea. Never thought of that.

@George,
USA v Canada in Men's Hockey is Sunday Feb 21.
Each is so far undefeated.
Each is already guaranteed to go through to the Playoff Round.
Will they hold something back or go for it?

@George,
I thought there was a chance Canada could be knocked out of the medal round before that.

Don't tell anyone, but I'm not expecting great things of the Canadian Men's Hockey team. The women, that's another thing. We've got women in our office, who play in house leagues, who play better than most of the opposition faced by the Canadian Women's Hockey team so far.

@ehBeth,
discussion on the cbc this morning about the possibility axing women's hockey, as the rest of the world is not any near the calibre of our hockey program

Nope, Canada's going through. But there could be upsets along the way.

I won't tell anyone about your doubts. You're flirting with treason in the eyes
of some of your fellow Canuckians.

I've watched a bit of the Canadian and US women's games.
It's all warm-up until the two face each other.

If they were really amateurs, I'd agree.

Totally misunderstood the hockey playoff structure.
Here's the straight poop from the Vancouver2010 site:

Upon completion of the preliminary round, teams will be ranked 1D
through 12D. The top four ranked teams (1D though 4D) will receive
byes to the quarter-final round. The remaining eight teams will compete
for the remaining four quarter-final positions.

So have you signed a few corporate endorsement deals yet? What? $10 million from Nike? $5.75 from Accenture? $2.5 million from GM?
