@lmur,
Those "dastarly Oceanics" are right now second to last... defeating the Bonnie Irish.

As for Mexico, our skier finished 78th out of 103 participants.
I expected much more of him. He had always finished his age: 35th when he was 35; 39th when he was 39 and so on. He should have finished 51st, but I guess age took its toll.

Looks like the Americans will get all three fantasy medals. Grrr. Too much like the real thing.

What's your opinion about the Americans defining the olympic medals table by totals and not by golds, like (I assume) the rest of the world?

the women are still better Cool
the Canajun women always do better than the men in the Winter Olympics
they've been awesome

for many Canajuns of a certain generation, the only game that matters is the one with Russia, so that was pretty damn nice last night (ok, I'm of the certain transistor-radio-listening generation)

@ehBeth,
the women are certainly owning the podium

12 1/2 medals to the men's 3 1/2 (global split the ice dance by gender)

I, of course, picked the canadian men. Next time, more research. At least twenty minutes...

I also picked Belarus (what?), but they just won a gold. And Finland did ok today.

What's going on with curling, will it ever be over?

@fbaezer,
You may have noticed I rarely pick the americans. Not that I don't like my country, but I'm reactive to decades of jingoistic olympic television hours here.
So I don't care about the by-totals stuff. I'd probably be apoplectic if I were actually watching television on all this.

But past all the medals, back when I did used to watch, I was as interested in the people trying, somewhat down the line, as I was about the famous.

Except for games like this, I absolutely hate the medal-counting.
You notice there is no official way of determining what nation wins the
Olympics. I think that's a good idea.
