Why do cats bellow and run around like maniacs after using the litter tray?

@dlowan,
Yup, our kitty does that from time to time, proudly announcing to dad that she's left him a nice present. Laughing

Not all the time mind you. I think it's just a matter of personality.

well Dante is Siamese, is that a possible explanation?

Possibly.

But the cat which sparked the conversation is a Devon Rex....and lots of moggy owners around the table reported the same phenomenon.

It is? Is this a private joke/reference because I can't find it elsewhere online?

Can you explain the origin and actual definition. Perhaps you should submit it to http://www.urbandictionary.com/, non?

@tsarstepan,
Oh, damn, he said "dag" not "dog".

Dag means a bit of wool dangling round a sheep's bum, which has become noisome and hardened with pooh and wee here....or a person with no finesse or taste.

However...there IS a cat related meaning:

Dag

When you have a really old cat and he/she has lost the ability to excrete properly, and they do a poo but still has a dag (a bit of poo) hanging on.
"Hey, look, Whiskas has a dag!"
"Ewww"

Miranda DOES have that problem sometimes...but it's because she eats entire long blades of grass...which join the turds together in one awful choo choo train, and sometimes one doesn't want to come out!

THAT does lead to extra shenanigans, but it's an occasional thing!

But it's not just a Miranda thing, you know!

Well you might have answered your own question. Shouldn't you award yourself the Selected Answer ribbon? http://able2know.org/static/images/icons/rosette.png

Goodness! Surprised

Perhaps your cat has a wee personality disorder, Deb?

I've never had a cat that behaved like that!

I'm not sure what you're asking here, bunny.

Could I have a translation, please?

Is this some really rude thing you're asking?

Kinda.

I am asking if you are a puddy tat who acts like she's laid an egg after using the litter tray?

Oh I see!

No, not really.

But I always feel quite relieved.

I've never had a cat that bellowed, but they do sort of "explode" out of the litter box after taking a dump. Very frisky. We joke that they feel like they've just lost five pounds. Laughing
