@Rockhead,
Beating children isnt a topic that I think can be made humorous The "God is First" monicker is laughable. Somewhere her religious beliefs arent being translated into Christian actions.

She has probably driven her daughter away by her criminal actions and "God..." doesnt even get it.

@farmerman,
anything can be made humorous if you try hard enough.

sometimes it's easier to digest that way.

(did I use its properly?)

G-I-F~

No matter whether you think spanking with a belt is beating, or whether you
think not leaving a mark is not beating, you can be sure that CPS will see
what you have done as beating. Be very sure of this.

If you want to keep your child, then you must commit to another method of
punishment. The belt is out of the question. Accept that. Deal with that.

You must, positively must, resolve not to do this again. Then you can deal with
CPS and accept whatever help they can give you.

I might add that Latin George gives really good advice for someone who picks football contests so poorly.

It's the damn football teams that mess up.

How desperate that poor child was to involve CPS in order to help her.
My guess is that these type of beatings happened more often and are now
diminished by the mother for she's being accused as abuser.

One can only hope that she didn't use the belt buckle to hit her. Why anyone
would use a belt to hit a child is beyond me. This God loving hypocrite
should feel the consequences of her action and hopefully she'll find other
means of reprimanding her children.

I wonder if the father hits the kids too.....

So, did "god" tell you to whale on a child with a belt? Sounds just like the Jehovah of the old testament. Why don't you take her out to the mountains, put a knife to her throat, and offer to sacrifice her to Jehovah's greater glory? "God" will just love you for it.

This clown is completely irrational. Boom posts an interesting and enlightened post about physical punishment for children, and her response is "not in Texas." Jesus H. Christ lady, do you think child psychology changes when you cross state lines ? ! ? ! ?

I think the liar here is this woman, who probably has instilled so much fear of physical abuse in this child that she cannot concentrate at school, gets bad marks, and then lies to hide this fact, which she knows will inevitably result in horribly painful and humiliating punishment. I do not oppose spanking, in time and in measure--hitting a child with a belt is not spanking; it is, as Dys pointed out, assault. Do that to an adult and you'll end up in jail. That's where i suspect you belong.

@farmerman,
Can you imagine what would happen to Abraham in these days, if the neighbors found him out in the back yard with a knife to Isaac's throat?

EDIT: I should add, while looking up in the sky and holding a conversation with his imaginary friend.

No, but if I did, I woud not hit them with whips.
When my ex-girlfriend, Marilyn, lived with me, she had her little daughter with her,
but I never hit her with any whips.

Suppose u lied and hid things on your taxes; it woud be very rong for the IRS to hit u with a whip.

Some people (like u, for instance) think its OK to treat people like dirt, with no respect,
as long as thay are young enuf. To that, I take exception.

I believe in the 13th Amendment; she is not your property.

If she lets herself down, then let her borrow your whip
and hit herSELF with it, if that 's what she decides to do.
If she lets herself down, that 's no skin off YOUR back; some nerve!

Maybe u shoud spend some time in jail.

U also owe her an apology.

I feel really bad for the kid. Shes at a big stepping stone in her life and her mom, instead of providing the kid with sound roots and sound wings, is turning her adopted child into a copy of herself. The cycle of violence has gotta stop.

The really sad part is that the woman thinks her actions are fully justified. This has gotta be a joke .

It was not so horrible before u became violent.

I am so scared. I could not live without my girls.
The first step is to apologize and to acknowledge
that no one shoud hit people with whips, whether thay lie or not.
After that, ask her to forgive u, admit that what u did
was much, much worse than what the victim did
and endeavor to effect a harmonious reconcilation.

I really must say:
I admire the mind of the whipping victim
in calling the cops. Too many people just tolerate that sort of thing.

She is an exceptional young lady !

@George,
Yes, that's really the crux of it.

Obviously your goal is to keep your daughters with you. CPS is now aware of your case. Continuing to defend hitting your 12-yr-old with a belt is probably not going to get you very far with them. I think that you've been given some resources here that can help... if you say something like that's how you were raised and you think it is right and justified, but then, and this is important, agree with them when they say that you shouldn't do it (they'll say why) and then, even more importantly don't do it again, that is a more likely path to your goal than to insist that you can, should, and will hit your kids.

I give her all the love and attention, but the fact that her mother does't is why she looks for negative attention.

or your brother or anyone else got mad at u and whipped U ??

Woud u call the police ?

@George,
Perhaps not in Texas. That's my worry. As much as I'd like to see G-I-F get the receiving end of that belt (not really... ok, maybe really) I've got a feeling that CPS in Texas will write a report and put it in a filing cabinet.
