@tsarstepan,
The best beer in the world depends on where one drinks his/her beer. I've been to Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese on Fleet Street in London, a popular hole frequented by Charles Dickens and many notables. We've even had a a2k meet there some years ago. Another place that fits the famous drinking hole class is the Star Bar in Gibraltar, the oldest pub in Gibraltar. I've been there a couple of times and had their fish and chips with their brew. Unfortunately, they've remodeled the place since then that took away their classic ambiance. I've no interest in returning there, but Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese still retains their original ambiance.

The best beer in the world is... the beer that you most like!

It's a traditional English "best bitter", quite hoppy, with a long bittersweet finish. It doesn't need to be chilled and works best for me at room temperature or slightly below.

@centrox,
You've got some good breweries down your way.

Bristol Beer Factory No 7 is one of our favourites with a Mumbai street style curry at the Thali Café.

Dawkins beers are good too, although they are brewed a little way away in Timsbury, near Bath:

We live about 100 yards away from the Wiper and True brewery.

@centrox,
We've got the Ringwood Brewery which is alright I suppose but nothing to get excited about, but there is a tiny brewery in Winchester which is quite good.

I should say Forty Niner and Old Thumper are definitely something to get excited about. Both of these are in our local shop and we like them. I like the look of that Prowler Pale, being crazy about cats.

@tsarstepan,
Corona, ice cold, lemon or lime slice in the neck, salt on the rim. Best summer beer.

@iamsam82,
Sorry but I must disagree here. Corona is IMHO not worthy of a BEST beer in the World status. I put it in the opposite category. I guess it's one of those
"one man's pleasure is another man's poison"sorts of things.

Speaking of UK-based (I know it's Irish) beers and ales, I like Smithwicks and also Old Speckled Hen.

@Ragman,
Hi, Rags.
I'm a member of both camps, though I'm not beer connoisseur. I liked what I liked.

I of course like different beers. I hope people who yell about Corona (not a favorite) have not lived their lives in incredible heat. You just think you have.

@Ragman,
We've got a small brewery not long opened up in Swanmore. It's very good, not many pictures though.

Quote:
SOMETHING special is brewing in Upper Swanmore.

A new microbrewery called Broken Bridge Brewing has been making waves since it started.

Head brewer and proprietor Jim Fullegar, 26, has been busy mastering the craft and the new brewery is very much a family affair.

Mr Fullegar’s father Charlie built the grain hopper, installed the cold store and did the plumbing, Jim’s mother Sue and his 75-year-old grandmother Joy all help out.

The new microbrewery produces about 400 litres of ale six times a month.
Its flagship ale is called It’s 5 O’ Clock Somewhere” (five per cent) which is a modern American Pale Ale brewed with rye and Vienna malts, and predominantly cascade and Chinook hops.

Mr Fullegar learned the brewing process in the Flowerpots brewery at Cheriton and Red Cat brewery in Winchester.

He said: “We are used to working together and previously had another business running the village shop in Meonstoke, where I still help out. We are well known in the area and that is why we are getting such tremendous support.”

Ales from the brewery were showcased at the award-winning The Guide Dog pub in Southampton.

They were a huge success and within two days they had sold out. And they also sold out at the Hampshire Bowman Beer Festival.

I don't think much of it will be going outside of Hampshire, let alone abroad. The local beer shop sells it on tap, I don't think they've got round to bottling it yet.
