The traditional Chinese large family tree is going to crumble away in only half century.

Do you think “crumble away” is a good expression here?I cannot come up with an appropriate one here, Can you help me?

By 'crumble away' do you mean gradually decline in importance?

Are you sure you mean "family tree" and not just "family" or perhaps "extended family" (3 or 4 generations in same house)?

A family tree is a diagram on paper or a concept.
