ADELAIDE, Australia " Australian and Chinese officials urged two bamboo-munching giant pandas on Sunday to consider reproducing during their 10-year residency Down Under.
Wang Wang and Funi, on loan from China, arrived at the Adelaide Zoo two weeks ago but were officially welcomed Sunday by leaders at the opening ceremony of their 8 million Australian dollar ($7.25 million) enclosure. Their exhibit will open to the public on Monday.
"Look after yourselves, keep healthy and active, eat your greens and maybe, when the time is right, think about starting a family," Governor General Quentin Bryce said in a speech directed at Funi and Wang Wang, who were sprawled against nearby boulders, chewing bamboo shoots. "There are not enough of you in this world."
Wow! What power! To think that these officials can instigate romance by making a speech. Or, maybe it is because their people won't listen to them, so the officials figured that they could give it a go with the pandas. What do you think???
Well, I'd say to the Aussies: the pressure is on!!
Of course, our San Diego zoo has proven to be quite a fertile ground for pandas.
Four pandas were born at the zoo over the years and all are doing well.
Pandae are not prolific even in nature. I think they should start cloning the damn things from tissue banks. That way the Chinese wont have a forever claim on the offspring. Thats my story and Im stickin to it.
and maybe, when the time is right, think about starting a family
Classic give aways of the libbies (yes I know it is a diminutive)....MAYBE, WHEN the time is right, THINK about starting. They are becoming extinct and this twit is worried about her femiminist image.
