It's not the fault of the women, it's the fault of the system, those who make these rules. And it's not just about women. Here, Sikhs don't have to wear helmets when riding bikes or motorcycles, or when working in certain jobs (RCMP, for example) because their religion dictates they wear their turbans. Now, is that right?
And then in Pediatrics, we had students from Saudi, Kuwait, UAE, etc who demanded a praying room and time off to pray several times a day. I understand their religion requires that, but then choose a job that doesn't interfere with your religion. Medical emergencies wait for no one.
