Drones are not yet at the point where they can replace fighter jets in dogfights.

Our '80s-era fighter jets will not stand up to modern fighter jets in a dogfight.

What the Air Force really needs is to resume production of the F-22. That'll be really expensive now, as the Democrats had all the production lines scrapped in order to ensure that there wouldn't be any more built. It'll be worth it though, as the F-22 is the best fighter jet in human history. Maybe we could pay for it by levying a tax on anti-war protesters.

However, the Marines have no alternative to the "hover" version of the F-35. Even if we scrap the other versions of the F-35, we still need to produce the hover version for the Marines. The UK also needs the hover version, for their aircraft carriers.
