Really cool website.

http://myparentswereawesome.tumblr.com/

Showing mom and dad before they had (gasp) us.

Thanks to NPR for interviewing Elliot about this site.

I'd venture a guess I'm going to see the hamburgers on this site soon.

Chai, where the hell do you come up with this stuff? When you surf the net, do you even look at what you're typing?? You've got to be the most interesting and slightly weirdest (in a good way) person on here. Except maybe for Gus. Or Slappy. Or Kicky. Or Dys. Or BlueVeinedThrobber. Or Roxxxane. Or TTH. Or ... (and the list goes on).

It's an interesting stew of history, anthropology, sociology and humanity. Certainly as powerful as any professional photography exhibit I've seen.

Eliott said this picture was a favorite of his.....

Diane

Wedding veil pulled back, guzzling champagne, looks like she's thinking "my freedom is gone"

Virginal bride smoking a cigarette is a nice touch too.

mame, what do you mean do I even look what I'm typing? Confused

They were interviewing Eliott during my drive home, and it seemed intriguing.

He said about half the people say in their email submission "my parents are STILL awesome"

I like the ones where someone who looks like he shouldn't even be shaving yet, and stoned to boot, is holding his baby. Probably the now adult submitting the shot.

I've always been leary of the "finish school, work 2.3 years before having a baby" camp.

Babies happen.
These awesome potheads are now responsible middle agers. I'll bet they do the same as I do, look in the mirror and think "who is this old fart looking at me?"

That reminds me of my (then) 86 year old great-grandmother, Lise, combing her hair one morning and looking in the mirror saying outloud: " So where did beautiful, sixteen year old Lise go?" I was about seven at the time, but I've always remembered it. Great grandmothers are awesome too.

I'm thinking you were typing in "Golf" but typed in "rolf" by mistake - that kind of thing Smile

And then there was the whole incident of your neighbour's weird sign.

And I could go on but I won't :

@Green Witch,
I say that every day but I say Mame instead of Lise. Time really does fly.

@Mame,
I agree - man where the heck did you find that one?

I'm thinking of adding my own picture - how about the one where I was hanging upside down from my feet at a bar in Carbo while having a shot!
