Watched the news last night and Australia is being hit hard. Their misfortune is our gain, in that they will probably have found a vaccine before the flu season hits the northern hemisphere.

According to the principles of biological science, which I gather you want to be taught despite your science education seeming to have missed out such things, these viruses are one of Nature's way of culling and thus rendering our species stronger as happened when immunities to the various plagues were established in the survivors. The survival of the fittest is a fundamental plank of the Darwinian canon.

I would rather be told which step I have missed than be told I have missed one.
