Brazil had far more population and arable land than did Congo.

Should it be "did Congo","Congo did","Congo had", or simply"Congo"?

I would say that "than did Congo" would be the most likely for in which you would see it from a native-speaker writing such a sentence. It would not be incorrect to use "than Congo did," and "than Congo" would not be incorrect either, although the latter i would think are less likely to be written.

But someone told me it should be "than Congo had". What's your opinion?
