@AIgirl,
Algirl- Good luck to you with your operation. I don't think that they were using Lasik in 2003, so that was not an option for me.

Update: Ten years have gone by since I first wrote this thread. (OMG Shocked ) I still have the epiretinal membrane, and my vision in the left eye has gotten just a bit worse, but no big deal. The problem is still not of a magnitude where anything has to be done about it.

If you are interested, check this out: http://www.google.com/search?q=amsler+grid&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=M0LdUeWgIovu9ATB_IHYDQ&sqi=2&ved=0CD8QsAQ&biw=1343&bih=565

The Amsler grid is quick test that will tell you if there is something gone awry in an eye. If you close one eye, and look at the grid, the lines should be even and straight, with no missing parts to the grid. When I am lazy, I just do the same thing with my vertical blinds.

Is your retina problem related to the slippage of your intraocular lens or a separate issue. I seem to be experiencing many of your initial symptoms. Your dialogue has been very helpful for me.

I have a "bad eye" that I've written at length about here on a2k - if you're looking for a self involved worry wart (there were good reasons), check the thread -
http://able2know.org/topic/131881-1

But to simplify -
There were five surgeries in all on that one eye, two of them for what the surgeon called a cat eye - big lens slippage - but my lens went into a different area than all on this thread because of an original bad surgery, so that cat eye thing is not likely to affect you folks. (I say, firmly and hopefully). Anyway, the cat eye thing stopped after the second effort to fix it, thank goodness.

The 5th surgery on that eye was because a while after the fourth, I got blepharitis in that eye, and the lid gradually drooped and drooped some more. Blepharitis is a chronic condition, and not everyone who has it has their eyes go droopy - my lid muscle was probably quite weary by then.

The good news - I had and still have a new doctor who understood my fears of cataract surgery on my "good eye" - and that one went perfectly, no lens problem at all, great vision.

My point, be persistent in seeking improvement!

What can be done to correct the lens shifting after cataract surgery. I have been dealing with this for 2 years

@dstoeffler,
What my specialist did was to remove the lens that had slipped, and then inserted a slightly larger lens. Egads! It has been 14 years since I described my lens problem on A2K. Time does march on. The epiretinal membrane is somewhat worse, but still manageable.I take Muro 128 (OTC) which helps with some coronary edema that kicks up from time to time.

@Phoenix32890,
Just by the way, are the replacement lenses used in cataract surgery made to a prescription?

@roger,
Rog- I had my original cataract surgery in 2003. That was before they had the more sophisticated lenses that will work like a progressive lens. All I can remember, was later, when I had the lens that shifted replaced, the appointment had to be changed, because the manufacturer sent the wrong size.

@Phoenix32890,
Ah, well. When I get to that point, I'll ask the doctor. How's that for a radical idea?
