@Region Philbis,
I also hate to sound naïve, but hope he's 100% clean. He's got a particularly hulky build. I haven't seen any footage of him being interviewed so hard to know about his personality (think Clemens-like...junkyard dog).

Makes you wonder how he alone can make pitchers look like he's playing t-ball, dudn't it? Even Miggy isn't hitting like that...although he's not so far off at all. Personally, I'll keep watching the highlights at night to see what his latest fetes are.

Just something that was covered on another thread. Hopefully one or two of you might find it interesting.....

The first written reference to baseball (base ball), involving a game played in Walton on Thames, England, in 1749.

Also, the story behind how an American documentary team brought about an unexpected discovery....

Yasiel Puig: 'That's my game'

LOS ANGELES – Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig smiled and shook his head
vigorously from side to side when someone asked him whether he will
ever tone down his style of play after a series of critical comments came
out of a series against the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this week.

Arizona pitcher Ian Kennedy described Puig's style of play as "arrogant,"
and catcher Miguel Montero called some of the rookie's actions on the
field "stupid."

"That's my game," Puig told reporters on Thursday. "I'm going to play my
baseball the way I play. We don't like the way [Gerardo] Parra plays or
the way Montero plays, but we don't go to the press or anybody and
talk about how we don't like it, because we're more reserved.

@Region Philbis,
Macho no-hitter is right. Also Hunter Pence saved his bacon with that outstanding defensive play of the week.

However, I find it so odd that with his 13k and a no-hitter effort that it still took so many pitches to get the CG. I'm looking to see how many walks. Ahh, OK...4 BBs. Was it a tough competitor? Wasn't it the Pirates? Oh,, no ..it was Padres. He's got 24ks in 16 innings.

I'm so glad I stuck with him in my fantasy league pickings. Would still like to see his lean frame with about 20 lbs of muscle on it. Of course, that could mess his delivery up, too.

@Region Philbis,
Bless him!

Of course, not being closely follower of the Giants, I don't know how good their relievers are.

@Region Philbis,
Whoa, baby! be still my beating heart! Brandon Workman (that's his name and he's far from workman-like) is working his way into the hearts of all of Red Sawx nation.

I won't refer to it the NH label for fear of jinxing him, but the other guys batting avg are going to suffer the worst fate a team could face.

{ Edit: OK...7th inning...and A's get an infield single. Pedroia almost got Coco Crisp at first.}

@Region Philbis,
In one respect it did. They found a good new starter who can go 6 innings and not give up the store. Saw some good defensive plays, too. At 6ft 5 in and 225 lbs. he's less likely to wilt in August.

Relief is OK for the moment but is still questionable. Thornton coughed up a furball.

@Ragman,

farrell likes throwing new pitchers into the fire right away.
i got no problm with that.

in hindsight, he prolly shoulda brought in the righty (bailey) to pitch to donaldson...

@Region Philbis,
Hard to know for sure. You think he's losing faith in Bailey?

@Ragman,

i think he's trying to build bailey back up.
he's an ex-A, so he prolly woulda been pumped to pitch in that spot...

@tsarstepan,

that's ok... CF johnny damon had such a terrible arm that this one time --
LF manny ramirez cut his throw off, because manny knew he had a better arm,
even throwing from his knees...

Thanks for posting that. I had heard how awful it was, but ... holy cow ...

That's worse than Mariah Carey.
