@fbaezer,
some day soon, they will be playing into December...

this year's wild card crop is mostly crap.

but Milwaukee going to the NL never made a lot of sense to me either.

Commissioner Selig understands it all, though...

@Rockhead,
The Braves might be in an equally tight spot as the Red Sox if the Cardinals hold their lead tonight.

@tsarstepan,
the only potential wild card team with any fear factor at all, IMHO is the rays.

(sorry Pancho)

@Rockhead,
Top of the 9th and St. Louis has a solid lead: 12 to 6. The Braves mustn't be feeling so Bravish today.

@tsarstepan,
to be frank, Philly is the only team I see making hay in the NL.

I could be wrong, and Gargamel will tell me why, but...

October is around the corner.

@fbaezer,

both wildcard slots still up for grabs going into game #162.

i agree -- this is the correct number of playoff teams.
adding 2 more lessens the accomplishment...

@Region Philbis,
IMHO, if you use the scenario of the current playoff picture that adding the 2 more teams, which wouldn't currently make the playoffs under the present rules, would be a yawn-fest. After all, they couldn't win 50% of their games for 162 games - what value could they add to entertainment of fans?

Oh yeah, I forgot..this is for potentially making a billionaire and a bunch of millionaires some more profit and fleecing the masses and not giving them their money's worth.

@Ragman,
... not that adding 2 more teams was suggested here anywhere. I was just projecting if MLB proposed adding 2 more in the future.

@Ragman,
I love Baltimore, can't understand why people'd be upset with them winning a few measly late in the season games.

@Sturgis,
For making that inflammatory statement Sturgis, I have an Intercontinental Ballistic missile aimed at your IP address! Don't make me pull that trigger! Mad

Come on Red Sox, get out of that funk and beat up those hapless Orioles! Your season is depending on it!

@tsarstepan,
Yeah, come on Orioles! (I left my reading glasses in the next county, so I am sure you want us to root for team from the south.)

The D-backs score 6 in the bottom half of the 10th inning last night with an incredible walk-off grand slam with 2 outs, to keep pressure on the Brewers!!! A D-Backs win and Brewers loss today would give D-Backs home field advantage in the playoffs.

@Ragman,

heard on the radio today that the extra teams will be added in 2013...

one of the squawking heads said the sawx are interested in acquiring the services of royals' lefty starter bruce chen,
should they get to the "play-in" game against the rays on thursday...
