@bobsal u1553115,
The Chicago Cubs celebrated the 100th anniversary of the first game at Wrigley Field in the most appropriate way: with a gut-wrenching loss.

They entered the ninth inning with a three-run lead.

They were one out from victory.

And then they collapsed.

After an error by shortstop Starlin Castro, the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied for five runs in the ninth to beat the Cubs 7-5 Wednesday.

Net year net year!

Royals rookie fireballer Yordano Ventura has gone 8 sweet scoreless innings. a career high.

be interesting to see if Neddy lets him try to close it out with a 4 run lead...

@Rockhead,

he's 113 deep.
if they let him start the 9th, it'll depend on how efficient he is...

@Region Philbis,
Holland is warming, but we are threatening to score again.

I'd like to see the kid get it.

he's still throwing 98...

here's one of the strangest pitching lines you'll ever see --
Code: IP H R ER BB SO HR PC-ST ERA
B Morrow 2.2 0 4 4 8 1 0 65-26 6.04

three of the four runs were charged to him after he got yanked for walking the bases loaded, and then walking in a run.

his relief pitcher promptly gave up a grand salami...

@Region Philbis,
Thought that was Balfour's line. He gave up a walk-off salami to Abreu.
Rays look...well...diminished.

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Jean Segura is having a little work done to his face, but not by choice.

Segura left Saturday night’s game against the Cubs early after he was hit in the head while teammate
Ryan Braun was casually swinging his bat near the dugout. Segura came away with what was described
as a “pretty good gash over his eye,” and while he doesn’t have a concussion or fracture, Segura will
need plastic surgery to repair the gash, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

@Region Philbis,
He apparently was trying to steal home. But since the ball was hit and caught and the runner didn't return to third base, I'm assuming he's out or the run just didn't count if they catch was already the third out.

What a treat to watch the Marlins Jose Fernandez tonight.
2 hit shut-out and a nifty put-out at home against the Braves.
Just 6 days ago he blanked them 1-0 with 14 strike outs.
