@Intrepid,
You may ignore the fact, but many, many children grow up maintaining their belief system. That is why there are so many adults attending Church and praying to God.

So many adults are attending church because they was brain wash as young children my friend before reason could had protected them.

The only protection they need is from bigots like you.

I see that you have still not learned to use the quote function. Even a child could do it. It makes posts hard to follow and it makes intelligent posts appear to come from you.

At least I am in good company with such men as Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Paine.

Not wishing to waste my time on such nonsensical debate with Believers, this is offered.

Fresco, you get it.

btw, in another vernacular.

There is a road, no simple highway,
Between the dawn and the dark of night,
And if you go no one may follow,
That path is for your steps alone.

When there is no pebble tossed,
Nor wind to blow.

But if you fall you fall alone,
If you should stand then whos to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home.

But, who is "I" and what did Jesus mean by "the way?"
Jesus sometime spoke as Jesus the man, and at other times spoke from that that he said is "within me" (God); therefore, it is God who is the life and the way, not Jesus the man.

@Pemerson,
Hello Pemerson here I was under the impress that this thread had ended.

I would suggest you however tread carefully concerning the man/god issue when it come to Jesus as one hell of a lot of good Christian blood was spill over the issue both in the west and in the byzantine empire.

@Pemerson,
Welcome to A2K Pemerson. You picked a heck of a thread to wade in on, but maybe they'll give you a little time before they start throwing stones. Smile

Personally I think Jesus the man must have been a very personable, likable, and charismatic figure. Otherwise he wouldn't have received so many dinner invitations and wouldn't have been invited to parties. And he wouldn't have drawn the crowds that he drew and he wouldn't have been perceived as the threat that he was to the establishment.

I also think he encouraged his disciples, friends, followers to think more deeply, to understand that there were nuances that were not so obvious at first blush. I think he appreciated thoughtful questions asked of him and sometimes gave answers for what others had not yet been able to form questions.

And I think he wants us to ask questions and seek answers now too.

@BillRM,
Pardon, but I thought it was the Christians who shed all that blood, of anyone who disagreed with them. Jesus never said he was "God" and did not refer to himself as a "Christian" and did not come here to start another "religion." He said God is within him. Jesus is our example. God is within us, also. Jesus came here to let us know we do not need anything or anybody to intercede for us. God is always, always with each of us, we just have to believe it.
And, no, I don't think I will "tread lightly, BillRM, did you? When is a Topic over?

@Foxfyre,
Foxfyre, thanks for the welcome. Yes, Jesus must have been an amazingly likeable person. I've read many accounts of his life in other writings other than the Bible. How intriguing he must have seemed to his friends, his disciples, those who actually spoke with him. He must have appeared as Albert Einstein attempting to converse with 3-year-olds, in that so long-ago world. As far as I know, it is true that Jesus taught his disciples, in private, many many things that he did not teach the general populace. I want to know what was taught to the disciples.

@Pemerson,
As there is zero proof one way or another that a real person with the name Jesus was a cult leader in that time period what he might had said or might not had said is even more in question to say the least!

Yes welcome to this thread that had everyone already proclaiming their opinions,beliefs,faith in many kilo bytes of postings.

You are correct in that Jesus was not a cult leader

@BillRM,
Bill, I can understand that you might not believe what religions teach, but it isn't a good idea to just disavow Jesus' existence those 2,000 years ago. If you don't like Biblical teachings, try reading the Gnostic Gospels, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the manuscripts found hidden under the sand in Egypt, plus books being published in recent years by biblical scholars (today, most are likely, not only to be biblical scholars but also are linguists and hold a degree in archeology). You seem to be curious, but don't get caught up in just proving a thing wrong - find the truth, and it will set you free. Guaranteed.

@panzade,
Like all upon whom is conferred sainthood by the Roman Catholic Church, he was party to a miracle. Visitation by angels usually qualifies as such.
