HOW DO YOU DETERMINE WHEN AND HOW OFTEN YOU POST ONTO A2K?

I'll generally look in once day day to see what's been posted since I was last here. Sometimes I'll read whole threads & post nothing to them at all (if, say, I'm really pooped & slow after a hard day at work. Or if it's a subject I know little about but am interested in.) Other times I might spend a whole Sunday posting, posting, posting ..... & walk away from the computer (eventually!) feeling a bit woozy & light-headed. A lot depends on how engaging I find particular threads. And when I've started a fresh thread, on a subject which really interests me, I will post there a lot, in the initial day or two, in response to other people's contributions.

@msolga,
I guess I should review my own posting habits. Im either at home with alaptop or else I may take my "little pad" with me. There are always times in a day, in between lifes demands, I will flip my rasberry or click on the laptop, wherever Im at. I too roam the "My posts" and then scan the "New posts" to see if

1any discussion Ive been involved in has collected any new posts since my last visit.

2 See if the new posts contain anything of interest.

I too, can waste time on the boards and have been trying to make a conscious effort to limit the poasts to 3 or less per visit. (Till recently I was posting uncontrollably and that was worrying me re: mannerisms that could become OCD))

I also recognized early on that I was developing an OCD manner of posting. A few years ago, I caught myself posting every single thought that popped up. I soon realized that I was the only person actually reading my posts.

@farmerman,
Did you know that Uncle Ben was a real, honest-t0-god rice grower in East Texas?

Yeah, it's weird & rather disturbing, isn't it, farmer? You tell yourself that you'll only check out a few posts you've been following (because you have jobs 1, 2, 3 & 4 which must be done!), & there you are STILL at it, hours later! Even more perplexing, what you (meaning "I" Wink ) posted during that marathon wasn't all that fascinating, anyway! Confused I've made a conscious (cut back) effort, too.

HAAA HA HA HA. A reality check does often help. I can think of only one other who discusses post content with (it)self

Laughing

I'm sure that's isn't true, wandeljw. Pretty funny, but not at all accurate.

@msolga,
There is a popular brand of rice in the United States known as Uncle Ben's which shows a smiling black man on the box. There is also a brand of mixes for pancakes and other baking soda foods call Aunt Jemima which used to show a picture of a black woman in a kerchief, an unflattering image in these days, and one which was alleged to be racist. Now Aunt Jamima (a totally fictional creation of an advertisement company) has a much more moder look.

Many people objected that Uncle Ben as portrayed on the box of rice is a racist image as well, because they assumed that it was a portrayal of an "aw shucks" Uncle Tom type of black man, truckling to the white man. That was all in their heads. Uncle Ben was a real man, who produced rice of such a consistently high quality that people in East Texas, black and white, got in the habit of assuring prospective buyers that their rice crop was "just as good as Uncle Ben's." So "Uncle Ben's" became a by-word for a high quality rice product, and the people who founded the company were quick to capitalize on that.
