Can anyone tell me who invented the colour Mauve? I want to become an artist and need to know. I would also like to know how to conjugate verbs.

@dyslexia,
It would not help you if I gave you the answers. Do you have a library that is well-stacked? Better yet, you might find a well-stacked librarian.

@boomerang,
You're thinking of Claude Neon. The eponymous neon crystals, of course, are named after the neon crystals he originally discovered in Southern France.

@dyslexia,
Helping an old retard is different than spoon feeding homework answers to lazy kids.

Mauve was nt invented, it was discovered. It is a small island in the Indo Pacific that is peopled by Mauvites. These people enjoy grape soda and worship a volcano. Hence the name.

I can conjugate Mauve for you if you want.
Ahhhh, there. Ive done it.

Now , off to the Sack a Suds for my supper

@dyslexia,
Actually, as Dys very likely knows, the manufacture of mauve is an interesting story!

It was actually manufactured by a certain William Henry Perkin, and was the first synthetic dye, I believe:

Well, now, who knows what you're going to learn on a2k. I thought dys was just having his little bit of fun, like "Who invented the color red?", poke you in the ribs with his elbow, nudge, nudge, wink, wink. Everyone knows red's been around for millions of years, a particular wavelength section of the EM spectrum and so on, and so on. No one "invented" it. It just was. But someone DID invent "mauve". It didn't exist before 1855-60, somewhere in there, and DLo found him out, Mr. Perkin himself, invented the dye, invented the color, without which the Mauve Decade of the 1890s would have had a hard time coming into being. Check it out at dictionary.com. Kudos to the arcane masters dys and dlowan.

@MontereyJack,
Lol!!!

I just knew there was something really different about mauve, but I couldn't remember what it was, so I looked it up.

Dys rules as the only arcane mastperson.

But I do wish people would be kinder and more helpful to new folk.

I read that as tongue, not taupe.

Does that mean I need sex? Has it been too long?

@dyslexia,
Bought one today, s'matter of fact, but it's a deep red and doesn't look good on me. Should I use it for the floor?
