It's your duty to keep us informed about this legendary green chile cheeseburger! Wink

@InfraBlue,
Osso now hates the food at Spinn's , just about nuttin' I like there. The last hamburger was unchewable, and hard to swallow - weirdest hamburger I ever ran across. Their meat is supposed to be relatively well produced. However, I like the staff a lot.

The hockey puck comment is that Roger likes his burgers thoroughly well done. It's a matter of contention among friends. Dys, now, hasn't had the weird hamburger at Spinn's experience, that I know of.

Did I mention the soggy buns?

I once ordered fish there, to get away from the other selections, the fish plate costing more, and I got a display of concreted fish, about as edible as the plastic food creations you see in japanese restaurant windows.

I'm a woman of many opinions.

@InfraBlue,
In general I like green chile cheeseburgers, without the cheese, not that I don't like cheese and green chile together, but that I don't usually like the cheese hamburger stands put on the burgers.
Manny's Buckhorn Tavern sounds interesting..

So then, is Spin's worth a visit or not? Dys seems to like it. Roger doesn't. I'm not clear on Osso's opinion.

In March when I and my wife go to Albuquerque, we're going to check out Manny's Buckhorn Tavern in San Antonio for their green chile cheeseburger. It's on GQ's list, and it won a throwdown against Bobby Flay on the Food Network.

Yes and no, because the platability varies enormously. I've got the vague feeling that nighttime is good, while daytime is bad. I would now be reluctant to bring a guest, expecting something special.

Are you going to have time to socialize while in Albuquerque?

@roger,
My devious plan is to one day have the hamburger at Indigo Crow in Corrales, which is not far from our part of Albuquerque..

Yes, InfraBlue, I've the same question as Roger.

@ossobuco,
Let's call the Indigo Crow a firm deal.

Uh oh. He's going to be expecting a serious cyclists. Having seen the suicidal video he posted, I don't know if this is a good idea or not.

And by that I hope you are not referring to the Owl Cafe. I went there to try their green chile cheeseburger and was not impressed.

Maybe we can meet at one of Albuquerque's better burger joints.

I'll keep you all posted. My wife and I are going to be there on the last weekend of February.

Confirming yesterday’s report that Bill’s Bar and Burger is coming to Rockefeller Center, reps have sent a release indicating that it will open in May of this year. The space, which previously belonged to Pino Luongo’s overambitious Tuscan Square, is 10,000 square feet (4,866 on the street level and 5,022 on the concourse level).

Out of curiosity... does anybody know the square footage of the average size restaurant in New York City? This burger joint seems it could fit and feed Godzilla's family.

Three’s a Trend: Pimento-Cheese Burgers
1/19/10 at 10:25 AM

Pimento cheese, the southern staple that blends cheese, mayo, and sweet peppers, seems to be gaining favor round these parts. Tasha Garcia Gibson said she put a pimento burger on Tipsy Parson’s menu as a nod to her family’s beach tradition, and then Bobby Flay added one to the lunch menu at Bar Americain. And now A Hamburger Today says RUB served one as a special last night. Egg (who else?) also serves a country-ham-and-pimento-cheese sandwich. Plus, YumSugar, Serious Eats, and Slice have recently sung the praises of pimento cheese to home cooks. Could pimento cheese become the new biscuits and gravy?
