In my country, there are staff members who accompany the nurse in an ambulance. Their job is to carry the injured person on a stretcher into an ambulance. They are not paramedics or nurses.
Can I call them 'ambulance attendants'?
Thanks.
I believe people who fulfill a similar role in hospitals are called "orderlies".
@tanguatlay,
Elaine Koh asked this at WordReference.com in September 2008. Do you know her? Ambulance Attendants ("AA"s) are employed in the Singapore Fire Service. The standard ambulance crew is a Staff Nurse, a driver and an AA.
@contrex,
Thanks, Contrex.
Finally, I know that they are called ambulance attendants. If only I had known that Elaine Koh had asked about the same topic at WordReference.com. Unfortunately, I do not know her.
@tanguatlay,
In a British hospital, they would be called porters.
But porters don't go out with ambulances.
@McTag,
Thanks to all who have replied to my query.
