I haven't had huevos rancheros in soooo long! It's a pretty presentation and way easier than it looks -- I oughta make some!

it was good, not great. The corn tortillas got a little too crispy and I forgot to plate the refried black beans.

Normally, being a health nut and early riser, I wouldn't eat what I ate this morning. Mr. glitterbag and myself ate left over pizza and orange juice around 11 this morning. We got the pizza from a Greek restaurant in Annapolis Saturday night and it was the first pizza we have eaten since March of 1999. (it was the thin crust, authentic kind) Mr glitterbag, despite a low fat diet, daily exercise and low colesterol (181) developed artery blockage and had three stents inserted in 03/99. We gave up all fast food including pizza, but the devil made us do it last night, and again this morning. This will never happen again for at least 2 years. And no, I'm not making any bets on that.

I enjoyed it more than I should have, but I'm about saturated with the unnecessary fats and I doubt we will be doing this again any time soon. Pizza leaves you with a heavy feeling and I can't say I enjoy that. But while we were eating it, there was a party for our taste buds.

Glad you enjoyed it. Are you eating lighter to support your husband, or do you also have plaque issues?

My dad had angioplasty (no actual heart attack, thank god) and a stent put in in... 1998 maybe. He totally turned his life around and was so strict with his diet and excersize regimens... anyway, he then developed prostate cancer and had it successfully removed. After that he lightened up on his diet restrictions, but not his excersize routine. He hasn't changed a lot in his diet, but the cancer thing made him realize that if he was going to survive, he might as well enjoy himself every once in a while.

Hello littleK, I've prefered a low fat diet, but my husband was raised in North Carolina where fat back was considered a good thing. They called it "Streak of lean". Primarily, I adopted his new diet because I couldn't deal with the idea of eating something in front of him that he couldn't have. He is very lean, 6'2" and about 185. He loves to eat and it never turned to excess body fat, but it did contribute to his heart disease. It runs in his family, everybody was slim as a rail, but they all had heart problems. His brother died at age 49 and his father only made it to 52. His mother had quadruple bypass when she was around 69. It's crucial for him to eat as lean as possible. The perverse thing is when I made drastic cuts in his fat intake (that went for me too). He lost 15 pounds and I gained 15 plus my colesteral jumped about 80 points. My family has a history (mainly with the women) of soaring colesteral counts once they turn 50. The doctor put me on Lipitor and reduced my level from 268 to 168. God bless the new wonder drugs.

Flaxseeds, blueberries, wholewheat, cane sugar and soybean meal all wrapped up in something called Optimum Power cereal, plus an all in vitamin pill, vitamin C tablet, cod liver oil capsule. Then 2 hours driving in the wind and rain, now sitting having my daily caffeine fix-a nice strong cup of coffee.

Cinnamon raisin bagel and GeniSoy chocolate protein powder blended into some Silk latte soy milk and a tablespoon of instant coffee, on the rocks.

That's breakfast and coffee in one minute and 45 seconds.

We're finding out right now if we are meeting friends for brunch. It could be waffles at EJ's Laughing or (oh god, we've got to dress up) Ouest at 82nd Street. Yeah, that's spelled right... O U est, pronounced West.... $14.oo omelettes and they open at two.......

pass the waffle syrup.

Brunch starts at 2:00?
P.M.?

Yikes!

Waffles are an excellent idea. I'll have to make some soon. Better go pick up some over-ripe bananas.
